Product Highlight: Green and Natural toys
From the Maple Landmark Web site: "In our entire line, we focus on using local lumber that is sustainably
harvested and using child-safe finishes. There are a wide variety of
finishes which are suitable, but on this page we feature products that
meet even tougher criteria. From our blocks which have no finish to our
oval rattles which have a Vermont-developed whey finish (whey being a
byproduct of cheesemaking). Our natural Classic trucks have a natural
beeswax/tung oil finish. These finished are as safe for us to use as they
are for your child to play with. Our latest items are shown from our
Schoolhouse Naturals line. These are all high-durability products, made
with no finish added, just hard maple wood."
Maple Landmark's truly natural rattles have ends that are made from sustainably harvested local maple and have a whey-based finish.

Consignment News
Consignment update for July:
Sounds strange, since we are STILL waiting for Summer to start..., but July is when you can start bringing back-to-school consignments.
We are ready to accept items that the children will be wearing in September and October:
such as light-weight clothing and accessories, and in colors that work for Fall. That is, items that can be worn in layers during the early Fall days that can range from 50 degrees to 80 degrees. It is too early for turtle necks, wool, corduroy, and flannel.
Below is a list to use as a guide as to what we can take in July. We
suggest that you always call ahead to confirm, as during a given week,
we may have too much in a particular size.
capris, long shorts, and skirts
long shorts for boys
light-weight tops (long and short sleeve) that are nice enough and "OK" to where to school (and colors that are good for Fall)
light-weight dresses (no velour or holiday-looking dresses yet. :) )
rain coats and brand-name hoodies
sneakers and sandals school uniforms (bring the short sleeves and shorts first, it will still be OK to bring the long pants and long sleeves in August.) fleece and rain jackets (no winter jackets, yet) Note: denim jackets mostly don't sell
baby clothing will basically follow the same guidelines. (long-sleeved, long pants, but not corduroy, velour, and such.))
Thank you for taking the time to read this. We look forward to seeing you.
Regarding equipment and furniture:
please call ahead to confirm that we have room for more of what you
have to sell. (We do have to be sure that all equipment and furniture,
that we sell, has not been recalled. You may want to save yourself
some time, by checking www.cpsc.gov before you pack the items in your
car.)
(Note: We are no longer able to take toys due to more strict Consumer Product Safety Commission regulations.)
In stock today: 2 Train tables 1 wooden toddler bed 2 cribs 5 high chairs 3 joggers

Get to know the Girls!!!
Summer has finally arrived!
Sure the sun seems to be the last one to know but we think this time off
from school should be spent getting to know your friends...the friendly staff at
Mother and Child that is. Sure you know
that Susie always has a smiling face at the register and Kelley is always busy
in that backroom, but do you know their hidden talents? We will take time every week to introduce
each of our staff to you over the summer.
Not only will we be sharing fun facts about ourselves, but we'll share
our shopping tips as well! If you ask us, we might be the store's best
customers, and as different as we are, we all seem to find something to spend
our paychecks on! After reading our
introductions, please feel free to come say hello. We'd love to talk if you also loved the Twilight series, and even better we'd
love to help you shop!
Introducing: Lauren
Many
people know Lauren as one-third of the a set of triplets, but we know
her as the employee of the month for the month of May! Although she hasn't been with us long, her
dedication and kind treatment to customers has made her stand out. Going into her junior year at Souhegan High
School, she is a varsity Volleyball and Basketball player, and hopes to attend
a college to play volleyball when she graduates in two years. She would love to live in Australia and when
she is not checking her facebook or playing volleyball you can find her out
shopping! Lauren
describes her style as laid back, but still put together. She loves finding unique things at Mother and
Child, because she likes wearing things not everyone else has. She also loves finding clothing that she can
dress up or down, that way she can go from work to out with her friends. Her
advice for Mother and Child shoppers? "We have so many different options to
choose from here! Have fun and create
your own style!" Her product pick is : Sterling silver rings!
Some fun facts about our employee of the month:
What is your favorite thing to do
at Mother and Child?
I love sharing stories and opinions
with customers, and making people laugh. Oh, and helping customers of course.
If you could be an animal what
would you be? Why?
A Giraffe. They are tall, cute,
and they wear a fashionable print.
What would you say is your
personal philosophy in life, in 7 words or less?
Be Yourself.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I can fold my tongue in half. :)
If you could eat only one food
for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Applesauce!
And for those customers with
young daughters, Lauren's advice to them?
Don't let others influence you, just make your own decisions and be yourself.

Sharing Ideas
Money-saving ideas from customers and employees at Mother & Child:
Tip of the week:
Recycle your school uniforms. Got school uniforms that no longer fit the children? If they are uniforms that the school currently uses, plan to bring them in July. We'll have a great supply for you to buy by August!
