New Government Regulations
= New Consignment Policies
Over the past year, The Federal Government has shifted more liability and responsibility to the owners of resale and consignment shops regarding recalled products. Due to the large number of toy and sporting goods recalls, Mother & Child will no longer be able to accept on consignment any toys, and many sporting goods items. It would be cost-prohibitive for us to be able to look up every toy or pair of roller blades and such that comes into the shop.
We will continue to carry the types of baby equipment and furniture that we have been carrying, and we will look for each of these items in the Consumer Product Safety Commission's database before accepting them. We have gone through every toy in the shop, and pulled any that have been recalled. The owners of those toys have been called and given the opportunity to pick up any of their recalled toys. The remaining recalled toys will be discarded, per CPSC requirements. We are confident that the toys on our consignment shelves have not been recalled and so they will remain for sale, until they sell or their consignment period has ended.
We always look on the bright side, and hope you will be as excited as we are about our idea of a whole "Shoe Department" on the back wall of the shop!

Consignment Update
We are transitioning from Winter to Spring.
We can use more good-quality snow pants, ice skates, snow
boots, and waterproof mittens and gloves.
We are also in need of swimwear, sun hats, and name-brand sandals for those who will be
going on vacation in Jan and Feb.
We recommend calling to ask if we have room for
the outgrown items that you have.
