Project Updates

Artist made elements are a significant part of several current capital construction projects the City has in the planning and engineering phase:

--SR 99 International District Enhancements is a federally funded project to create a visual gateway at 76th and SR99 with the addition of custom light poles with artist-made pedestrian level lanterns and custom design signage on the east side and a sculptural element on the island at 76th on the west side. The project will go to bid at the end of the year and should be complete by the end of 2011.

--Dayton St Plaza Renovation project at 2nd and Dayton includes an artist designed hard surface element on the new plaza and three plinths in the landscaping for temporary display of sculpture. The project will go to bid by early 2011, completion is estimated by end of 2011.

--Downtown Cultural Heritage tour is a project for which the City just received a $24,000 matching grant from Preserve America to create artist made interpretive place markers that highlight community history in the 4th Avenue Cultural Corridor area downtown. The project also includes development of a brochure, map and information for the website.
