| The Director's Corner |

As the end of the academic year draws near, we have much to celebrate. Our students have achieved wonderful accomplishments all throughout the year.
As some prepare to graduate and enter the health care work force or
graduate/health professional programs, others are preparing to participate in
health professions pipeline programs this summer, including our Science
Enrichment Preparation (SEP) Program. This year will commemorate the 30th
anniversary of SEP so we are truly looking forward to welcoming the Class of
2009.
Although you will not receive a newsletter from us during
the summer, we encourage you to visit our Web site so that you can remain
abreast of the exciting things that are occurring. And, if
you are unable to do so, we will release highlights from the summer in
our next edition.
On behalf of the NC-HCAP team, I would like to thank all of
you for your support this year. We look forward to continuing to partner
with you to ensure that students are well-positioned to become future health
care providers.

Special awards presented at Health Careers Club Recognition Program
Two students received special awards for their commitment to NC-HCAP and the Health Careers Club this year.
We are proud of their hard work and dedicated service to the organization.
Kevin Gray received the Patrena N. Benton Leadership Award, the
highest honor given to a member of the Health Careers Club. Kevin hails from Philadelphia (by way of Auburn, Alabama), and he is a senior majoring in chemistry and minoring in biology. His health career interests are in medicine and public health policy.

administrative leader and carries with it a monetary scholarship
donated by Benton. Imani Fuller was presented with the Emerging Leader Award. A native of Germantown, Maryland, Fuller is a rising junior double-majoring in psychology and chemistry. She plans to pursue a career in dentistry.
This is the first year NC-HCAP has presented the Emerging Leader Award, which honors a club member who has demonstrated dedicated service and commitment to the Health Careers Club. He/she advances the mission and goals of NC-HCAP and maintains a healthy balance between academic responsibilities, extracurricular activities, and personal well-being.
