This year's event is Mar. 10-11, 2012 (note the new date) at the DoubleTree Hotel Exhibit Hall-Lloyd Center. Mark your calendar and plan to attend or volunteer.
MARKETING THIS YEAR'S EVENT
How do we get young women thinking about prom BEFORE Spring Break and how do we encourage students to come get a FREE formal gown even if they don't know if they are going to prom?
This year's Prom Gown Giveaway will be held in March (before Spring Break) for the first time ever. The dates are Sat.-Sun., March 10-11. Please let us know if you have any ideas for marketing and advertising the early dates. Do you have a suggestion for a slogan that could be added to our posters? Some examples: "Early Dresses - Nobody Stresses" or "MARCH to Abby's Closet to Get Your Free Prom Gown." Email us your ideas or let us know if you would volunteer your services to create a marketing and media plan for this year's event.
Board of Directors - Working Hard
If you are are connected with a high school, please be sure they are aware of the March dates. Flyers and posters will be mailed to all high schools within 150 miles of Portland in early February. Be on the lookout for them and help ensure they are distributed at your school. We don't want any young woman to miss out on getting a free formal gown. Once the giveaway event ends, the remaining gowns are packed up and put into storage until the following Spring.

REAL DEALS in Sellwood is hosting a PRIVATE PARTY for Abby's Closet at their store on WED., NOV. 16TH from 6 to 8:30. Your $5 donation to Abby's Closet gets you a $5 gift card, food and beverage, gift with purchase and an evening out with other wonderful women. "BEAUTY AND THE BEAST"
The "Beauty and the Beast" event held at the Oregon Golf Club on Oct. 28 was an absolute blast!
The "Beasts" were beastly. The "Beauties" were beautiful. The 175 Abby's Closet supporters who attended had fun dancing, eating, drinking, visiting with others, bidding on silent auction items and playing fun games (especially "Heads and Tails" where the winner received a brand-new IPad). The guests learned more about the organization and over $5,000 was raised to fund this year's giveaway event. Thanks to everyone who attended and to those who made DONATIONS to help make the evening a success. Look for this event again next year! You won't want to miss it.

Donate any formal gowns you aren't going to wear again and give them another chance to dance. Especially needed are gowns in sizes 0-4 and 15 and larger. Donations are accepted year-round.
