A year of planning for a weekend of giving.  The "7th Annual Abby's Closet Prom Gown Giveaway" is happening soon - April 2-3, 2011Over 2,500 high school women are expected to attend to receive a free formal gown. 

 

Volunteers are needed to help with set-up (Mar. 31) and tear-down (Apr. 3) and to assist high school women in selecting the gown of their dreams (Apr. 2-3).  CLICK HERE to learn more about the volunteer needs and to sign up.

WHAT ARE YOU WEARING TO PROM?

 

If you are a high school student in need of a free prom gown, you are invited to come to the largest prom gown closet in Oregon.  The gowns are absolutely FREE; all you need to do is show us your high school ID. 

 

The fun-filled, 2-day giveaway event will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel Lloyd Center Stacy and BriannaExhibit Hall on Saturday, April 2, 8 am-5pm, and Sunday, April 3, 10 am-2 pm.   This is the only giveaway event of the year, so you don't want to miss it!  

 

There will be over 6,000 gowns available to choose from, in all styles and colors in sizes 0-26.  Come find the perfect dress for your special evening. For more information, visit our WEBSITE.

  

MAY DAY TEA
SAVE THIS DATE:  Sun., May 1, 2011

This popular event has sold out each year.  So, save the date and plan on attending our 3rd Annual May Day Tea and Auction.  It will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2Tea011, at 1 pm at the Lakewood Center in Lake Oswego.  This is our major fundraiser of the year and will help fund next year's Prom Gown Giveaway.  We hope we can count on your support.
  
Space is limited to 150 people.  You can guarantee attendance for you and your friends by hosting a table for 8 at a cost of $200. Email leeanne@abbyscloset.org if you would like to reserve a table.  Individual tickets will go on sale in April.
  
SILENT AUCTION ITEMS ARE NEEDED.  Please let us know if you have a donation or mail it to PO Box 402, West Linn, OR 97068.  

"DREAMS CAN COME TRUE" WINNER

Congrats to MARIA MARTELL

 

Congratulations to Maria Martell, a Senior at Glencoe High School in Hillsboro, OR for being the winner of our first "Dreams Can Come True" contest.  Maria is an amazing and deserving young woman who definitely embodies the spirit and mission of Abby's Closet.  We look forward to meeting her when she comes to chose the first prom gown of the year from Abby's Closet, the largest prom gown closet in Oregon.  Maria will also receive some gifts to help her prom dreams come true, along with a cash award for her to use at college next year.  Thanks to the many individuals and businesses who made donations for this award.

There were so many deserving young women who applied for this award, so the decision was very difficult.  Thank you to everyone who submitted applications.  We hope that all of your dreams come true!
