To the Friends of Abby's Closet ~

As you know, economic conditions are tough for many people at this time, with many families lacking discretionary income for much beyond necessities.  With that in mind, our Board has decided to postpone our fundraiser "A Night of Dreams" which was scheduled for Thurs., Oct. 29th, until a later time.  We apologize for any inconvenience this causes our guests who have already purchased tickets and to businesses and individuals who donated silent auction items.  We will be in touch with you to determine next steps.

Meanwhile, if you are able, we hope that you will support Abby's Closet in other ways so that we can continue our mission to provide free formal gowns to high school women. Given the situation today, it has become increasingly difficult for nonprofits to raise the income necessary for operation, but there are many ways you can help.  See below:  "The Top 10 Ways You Can Help Abby's Closet."
PORTLAND MONTHLY MAGAZINE - NOV. ISSUE
Abby's Closet is thrilled to be one of 8 nonprofits receiving a "Light A Fire" award from the Portland Monthly Magazine, in the category "Purely for the Love" (given to a nonprofit with no paid employees).  The award celebration will be the evening of Tues., Nov. 10, at the Portland Art Museum.  CLICK HERE to purchase tickets to attend and ask to sit at the "Abby's Closet table."  Be sure to read the article in the November issue of Portland Monthly Magazine.  Abby's Closet would not exist without the hundreds of volunteers who generously give of their time, talent and treasury.  Thank you to everyone.  We should all be proud of this recognition.
EXCLUSIVE NECKLACE - MEGAN FOX INSPIRED
Start your holiday shopping now.  Here is an easy way to help Abby's Closet and thrill a woman in your life (or you!).  Thank you to "JEWELRY BY CARI" for designing an exclusive necklace for Abby's Megan Fox NecklaceCloset. The design was inspired by the "Cari" necklace that actress Megan Fox wore in the movie:  "Transformers:  Revenge of the Fallen." It is similar to the necklace shown here, but is sterling silver and features an imprint of the Abby's Closet daisy logo.

We have a limited supply of these necklaces that we are offering for only $50.  For more information and to order CLICK HERE.
ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD COLLECTS 60 GOWNS

Thank you to 11-year-old Cheyanne Garcia for collecting over 60 formal gowns to donate to Abby's CheyanneCloset.  Cheyanne is a 6th grader at Liberty Middle School.  She decided that "every girl should be able to go to prom in a beautiful gown," so she solicited gown donations from local businesses and students at five high schools.  Cheyanne has accumulated over 1,300 hours of volunteer work during the past two years, and would like to be a special education teacher and model when she grows up.  What an amazing young woman!
