Fall is in the air, so it's time to put away those summer clothes and look for donatable prom growns lurking in the back of the closet. Go to our WEB SITE for donation locations. Thanks to our two newest donation drop-off sites: Oregon Ice Cream (Vancouver) and The Clothes Closet (Lake Oswego).
We are excited to learn that Portland Monthly Magazine has selected Abby's Closet as a recipient of a "Light a Fire" award in the category "Purely for the Love" (given to a nonprofit with no paid employees). There will be an article about our award in the November issue of the magazine. We are very proud to be recognized.

| Abby's Closet is run entirely by volunteers. If you would like to help, go to our WEBSITE to learn about current opportunities.
 One of our current needs is for volunteers to help pick up donations. Donated gowns are now appearing at our various dropoff sites, which are listed on our web site. If you will be near any of these sites and could pick up donated gowns to deliver to a board member or our Stark Street storage facility, please let us know by calling or clicking on our web site. It would be most appreciated. |
| MACY'S "SHOP FOR A CAUSE" |

On Saturday, Oct.17th, Abby's Closet volunteers will be at one entrance to Macy's in Washington Square participating in the national Shop for a Cause Day. Customers who make a $5 donation will receive an all-day savings pass good for substantial discounts on selected merchandise throughout the store and on macys.com, as well as a chance to win a $500 gift card. Donations will go to Abby's Closet and other participating local nonprofits.

Look for our booth at the Susan B. Komen Health Fair on Sept. 18th and 19th at the Oregon Convention Center. This event is in conjunction with Race/Walk for a Cure, and we will be handing out information about our organization. |
| SAVE THE DATE FOR A FUN FUNDRAISER |

Mark your calendars!! Our First Annual "A Night of Dreams" fundraising event will be held on Thursday night, Oct. 29th from 7-10 p.m. It will be hosted by Kuni BMW to benefit Abby's Closet. This year's theme is "Hollywood." Tickets are $50 and costumes are greatly encouraged, so come as your favorite celebrity! More information will be emailed to you soon. We are looking for silent auction donations. Let us know if you have anything to donate. |
| 2010 PROM GOWN GIVEAWAY EVENT |

 We've set the date for our 6th Annual Prom Gown Giveaway and are already hard at work planning an even bigger event than ever before. It will take place on April 10th and 11th, 2010. Later newsletters will have more information, but for now, don't forget to look in closets for those prom gowns, which can be dropped off at our donation sites.
