6:30pm| The Gay Marriage Thing film
Director Stephanie Higgins introduces her film and leads a brief Q&A session afterward.
8 pm | panel discussion
How have traditional notions of marriage changed with the legislation of same-sex unions? How have gay and lesbian couples adapted the social and aesthetic conventions of weddings?
Join us at the Peabody Essex Museum for a lively panel discussion on same-sex marriage, as our guests weigh in from the perspectives of politics, art, sociology and journalism. This stimulating debate complements Wedded Bliss, The Marriage of Art and Ceremony, an exhibition of art inspired by weddings across cultures, centuries and lifestyles.
