The Unity Council Newsletter
Winter
2008
Greetings!

In case you have not heard, in January the Unity Council relocated our administrative offices from the Fruitvale Village to a building that we own at 1900 Fruitvale Avenue.

The move has already benefited us tremendously. First, the new tenants have leased the 13,000 square feet of office space that we formerly inhabited. Not only has this development helped us financially, but our new tenants are now part of the thriving community at the Fruitvale Village, which is completely leased. The Fruitvale Village has truly achieved our vision of community development and neighborhood transformation.

Also, for the first time in three years the Unity Council's program and administrative staff are housed under the same roof, facilitating ease of communication, cohesiveness and coordinated service delivery.

As we settle in together, all of us at the Unity Council look forward to an incredible year of continuing to help families and individuals in our community to build wealth and assets.

Warmly,

Gilda Gonzales

Fruitvale Cultural and Performing Arts Center

The Unity Council is busy planning the renovation of the Fruitvale Masonic Temple, a long-term project that will transform the historic site into a neighborhood cultural and performing arts center for youth and families. We gratefully acknowledge Congresswoman Barbara Lee and the California Council for History Education for supporting the planning and future renovation of this vital community institution.
