In Memoriam
Betty Gong
President, G&G Supermarkets
Betty Gong, long time CIGA member, and President of G&G Supermarkets, died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital after a courageous fight against breast cancer.

Born in Stockton, Calif., she was the beloved daughter of the late Gee Kai and Fong Gong. She moved to Sonoma County in 1963 where she and her family started one of Santa Rosa's landmarks, G&G Supermarkets.

Betty was a matriarch of the Gong family at G&G Supermarkets. She will be missed by many customers and employees alike. Betty always extended kindness, patience and forgiveness. Her attributes helped many to learn and grow and develop to their fullest potentials. She loved the grocery business and her associates, and they returned that love.

As many countless hours she spent at G&G Supermarkets, she still found time to pursue her many hobbies. She was an avid bowler achieving the Santa Rosa 600 club bowler of the year in 2008, and served as a director for the Redwood Empire Women's Bowling Association. She was a huge 49er's fanatic but the one who held a special place in her heart was Mickey Mouse.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Betty Jean Gong Memorial Fund to benefit local charities will be graciously accepted at all Sonoma Bank locations or by mail to; Sonoma Bank 1211-A West College Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95401 or to a charity of your choice.

Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Liturgy on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St Rose Catholic Church, 398 10th St, Santa Rosa, interment to follow at Santa Rosa Memorial Park.
