Issue: 9

Welcome to another issue of Life Love & Health's monthly newsletter.  Here in our fifth year of storytelling, LLH remains America's most listened-to daily health and lifestyle program.  We reach over 6.1 million listeners on terrestrial or satellite radio, on the web, in retail-store broadcasts, or on custom webcast channels.  You'll hear about challenges and choices, about serious medical conditions, radical priority shifts and quality of life issues.  We tell the stories of things that unite us as human beings.  And it's all about Life Love & Health.

Highlights of the Month

"Fibromyalgia: It's Real"
"The face of pain is invisible," says Lois Pike.  But along with Glenda Dykstra, Rebecca Rengo and many others, she suffers from a chronic pain condition that the New York Times recently suggested isn't real.  Thanks to the American Pain Foundation, these three strong women are here to challenge that newspaper of record and set the record straight on fibromyalgia.

"The Super Bug"  Just when you thought there were enough scary diseases, along comes Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).  Dr. Richard Evans, reconstructive surgeon and spokesperson for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons doesn't know of any cure yet for this aggressive bacteria.  But you can drastically reduce the risk by avoiding skin-to-skin contact at the gym, washing your hands and not sharing the towel.  It's a start...

"Spirituality and Healing"  Here in the 21st century, research and empirical knowledge drive advances in medical science.  Well, here's a new one: prayer.  According to Dr. Edward Creagan, an oncologist at the Mayo Clinic, doctors are beginning to accept that patients' faith plays a role in their recovery -- and seeking ways to reincorporate the spiritual dimension of health care.

"Video Game Addiction"  Sitting at the screen for hours, twitching, forgetting to eat, losing touch with reality...  Kid stuff, right?  Unfortunately not.  In this month's Springmann Story, LLH hosts Alison Ewing and Christopher Springmann discover that the average gamer is 33 years old and a big-time consumer in a seven-billion-dollar-a-year market.  So would that be level up or level down?

Listen to your body.
What do you hear?
Body Language.

We're hard at work developing Body Language, our one-hour weekly national show reflecting the public's increased commitment to what the Mayo Clinic calls "the new approach to using the best of natural therapies and conventional medicine."  Listen to Body Language define the conversation as alternative, complimentary and integrative approaches move from the edge to the center of people's perception about what American healthcare really is.

Notice Anything Different?

Of course you do.  It's the new logo at the top of our newsletter, representing On the Path ProductionsOn the Path is our new umbrella organization covering Life Love & Health, Body Language and other projects we have in the works.  The old logo was fine, but it featured a plant, and we're all about people!  That little silhouette is fit, vibrant and on the move, spiraling out of her loop and following that path toward... where?  Come with us on our journey and you'll find out!
