Winter Safety Tips

PAW CARE and SAFETY

Pet Booties

Snow and ice can have an impact on your dog's paws. Extra precaution should be taken with these three easy steps to protect  the sensitive pads:

1. Doggie Booties. We carry the most comfortable that is available.

2. Paw Wax. It protects ice ball buildup between the pads. If it's good enough for the musher's team, it's good enough for us.

3. Pet Safe Ice Melter. Works great and does not burn the animal's pads. Stop in for a container or two.

Have a great photo you would like to share of your pet having a ball in the snow? Please be our fan on Facebook to upload your photo or send to our email address and we will upload for you.

NATIONAL TRAIN YOUR DOG MONTH!

Dog TrainingJanuary has been designated "National Train Your Dog Month" by the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT.com). In my daily comings and goings as a trainer, I see many clients who are inviting dogs into their homes for the first time since childhood. The number of multi-dog households is also on the rise; for some people, like me, having more than one dog is twice or three times the fun. (It can also be quadruple...

IMPORTANCE of DIET VARIETY

Why does your pet need variety in its diet? Dogs need variety in their diet just like humans do. Ensuring that your pet is provided a high quality food is the first step.

Food companies source their product from different parts of the country and rendering plants. The quality of these ingredients could vary drastically. Moving from one formula to another within the same brand is a good start, but mixing in other brands and types of foods (raw, home cooking, and canned) is ideal. The more often the diet is switched, the more accustomed the animal's digestive system is to changes.

Please come in for further discussion on how to do this successfully.
Visit us in New Canaan, CT and bring your pet friends, too! Your experience will be unlike any other pet store!
