| We know...
many of you think we're only about underwear.
After all, Dignity U Wear was founded in April 2000 with the simple idea of collecting broken packages of underwear and socks from nearby stores to provide to residents at a local shelter.
Did you know, however, in 2007 alone, over 1 MILLION pieces of brand new clothes were distributed to individuals in need? Everything from shoes and socks to shirts and pants to outerwear and...underwear!
It's a basic we ALL take for granted EACH day...and yet, it is the unseen foundation of how we present ourselves to the world around us. Undergarments remain a tremendous need for the agencies we serve - from shelters to foster care facilities to sexual assault centers and more. It's why we launched Undie Sunday ● Undie Monday two years ago, a community-wide campaign to collect brand new children's undergarments. To-date, over 155,000 pairs of new undies have been collected! Please, join us - read on to find out how you can help!
DON'T FORGET YOUR UNDERWEAR!

The drive will culminate Undie Sunday, March 9th, and Undie Monday, March 10th, as participating faith groups, individuals, businesses, civic and school groups drop-off their donations at Dignity U Wear's offices located at 136 North Myrtle Avenue in Jacksonville.

The 4th Annual Soirée Dignité
Friends of Dignity, indeed!
Our thanks to the Friends of Dignity Steering Committee, as well founder Marie Johnson and co-founders Meredith McWaters, Jacob Nguyen and Judith Topper, for their tireless dedication to clothe men, women, and children in need through their annual Soirée Dignité extravaganza in Orlando, FL. In a single afternoon, the Soirée combines the very best of live music, food and drink, live and silent auctions and the camaraderie of "friends".
Launched in 2004, the inaugural event raised $35,000. This hard working group of volunteers tripled their impact in 2005 - raising over $100,000 for Dignity U Wear. The 2006 event broke all records, as the Soirée raised more than $200,000. It was this tremendous success that led to a change in venue this past November- to Raglan Road in Downtown Disney® Walt Disney World® Resort. The entire facility, including four antique bars each more than 130 years old shipped from Ireland, hosts up to 800 party goers! Live music from the Irish house band and traditional Irish dancers entertained Soirée guests, who feasted from a menu presented by world-renowned chef Kevin Dundon. Kevin has been called the "Face of Irish Cooking" by NBC's The Today Show and has cooked for such notables as U2's Bono! Join us in 2008!
The entire team at Dignity U Wear extends their appreciation to the 2007 Soirée team:
Femmes de Coeur, The Orlando Chapter of Girl Friends, Stein Mart, Raglan Road Irish Pub, Orlando Marriott Downtown, WKMG Channel 6, Orlando Leisure Magazine, Lake Mary Life Magazine and The No Kidding Show with Scott Kidd on 1190 WAMT AM.

Clothing Donor Spotlight
Sacred Threads
"Those of us who have are obliged to help those who do not" is the motto of Sacred Threads, a Gainesville, FL based company that has supported Dignity U Wear for several years with regular donations of clothing, designed and made in India.
Sacred Threads (logo below) further honors that giving spirit by using a percentage of its profits to feed, educate, and provide shelter for the underprivleged in India.
And, this past holiday season, as in previous years, Sacred Threads took their commitment to Dignity U Wear's mission another step. Information about DUW was sent to 2,000 of their customers around the world, encouraging others to support Brand New Clothes for a Brand New Life. Our grateful appreciation to Sacred Threads for a giving philosophy that makes a world-wide impact. |

DUW's Karin Bunnell (center) with friends and supporters in Las Vegas.
As many in the apparel industry prepare to travel to Las Vegas for February tradeshows - DUW's Procurement team, Michelle Charron and Karin Bunnell, prepare, too! Attending the shows is a wonderful way to share Brand New "News" on the DUW mission as we extend our thanks and appreciation to supporters, donors and friends in person.
Our thanks to CurveNV, KIDShow, MAGIC, Off-Price Specialist Show and WWIN for offering DUW this tremendous opportunity. In addition to numerous clothing donations, the shows have generated ads and features in several of the tradeshow publications as well as California Apparel News, Earnshaw's, FashionMANNUSCRIPT, Hudson's, Intimate Apparel Business and It's A KidsWorld.
