Greetings!
According to scientists, falling in love is a biological response that encourages us to pair up. The initial chemical response is temporary so the ability to sustain long term relationships is dependant upon finding common interests and forming a romantic attachment that bonds us together. There are five primary forms of Love (well six if you count my love for dark chocolate) and they are: Unrequited, Impersonal (work, country, principles or goals), Parental (children), Interpersonal (family, friends, neighbors, animals), and Romantic (our significant other). In honor of Valentine's Day the following quotes are offered because, even when we are experiencing tumultuous transitions, the one constant in our life is the ability to give and receive love.
Can you identify which quote illustrates which form of love? (pssst there is a quiz at the end) "Love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is done well." - Vincent Van Gogh "It is not how much you do, but how much Love you put into the doing that matters." - Mother Teresa
"Harmonizing heart and brain through love is what can establish a complete intelligence, a complete self, where a child can look at life and realize there are no dead ends, there are always possibilities. The greatest gift a parent can give a child during all the ups and downs of life is love." - Doc Childre "Neither a lofty degree of intelligence nor imagination nor both together go to the making of genius. Love, love, love, that is the soul of genius." - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart "Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love." - Albert Einstein "If we seek to manifest love by utilizing our inherent abilities to serve others in whatever we are doing, we find the greatest opportunity for development, for then we are giving expression to our love for our neighbors and ourselves." - David & Bruce McArthur "As you continue to send out love, the energy returns to you in a regenerating spiral... As love accumulates, it keeps your system in balance and harmony. Love is the tool, and more love is the end product." - Sara Paddison "Love isn't just for the smart of talented, but for all the animals God created." - Sarah Wonders "Trouble is part of your life - if you don't share it, you don't give the person who loves you a chance to love you enough." - Dinah Shore "To fall in love is easy; even to remain in it is not difficult; our human loneliness is cause enough. But it is a hard quest worth making to find a comrade through whose steady presence one becomes steadily the person one desires to be." - Anna Louise Strong "Love is not just looking at each other; it's looking in the same direction." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery And finally, whether you're looking to fall in love for the first time, for the last time, or all over again, here is
Cupid's Exotic Love Tea recipe: 1 cup water 1/4 cup honey 1 cup apple juice 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon 6 Celestial Seasonings Cranberry Cove Tea Bags
Bring water and juice to a boil. Stir in honey and cinnamon. Add the tea bags. Remove from heat. Let stand for one hour. Add 6 cups cold water Pour into glasses with ice. Sit back, sip and fall in love. Can be stored in the refrigerator for three days.
A toast to love - drink up! And because love in any form is still love, there is no quiz today!

Our Favorite Things
Igniting Romance
Ambiance is about how you feel in your surroundings: peaceful, comfortable and happy. Candles can fan the flame of romance with their sweet fragrance and gentle flicker. When it comes to candles, our favorite brand is Partylite.
We love Partylite candles not only for their quality (did you know they burn completely? There is absolutely no waste) but also because of their environmental consciousness.
For example, the paraffin used in Partylite candles is so highly refined that it is considered food-grade by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). Furthermore, the carbon footprint is tightly controlled. There is no black smoke whatsoever with these candles and in fact, they will not discolor the candleholder, wall or anything else in their general vicinity.
And when you choose Partylite candles, you are supporting a culture that promotes environmental sustainability and responsibility. Partylite has adopted the environmental principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle throughout its operations. All locations around the world actively recycle materials ranging from paper and plastic to cardboard and even batteries. Through the use of energy-efficient technology, power usage has been reduced. Partylite continually works to increase its efforts to be good environmental stewards.
If you're environmentally conscious and want to share romance with your partner, consider Partylite candles, one of Our Favorite Things.
To find out more about Partylite or to order candles, please contact Pamela Amy at 760.778.1800 or by email at paamy@msn.com
["Our Favorite Things" gives us an opportunity to share people, places, events and things that we truly love and that you might too. We have no business affiliation with any company or individual featured here. We just want to share good things with you and if our recommendations help build business for someone else or saves you time or money, GREAT!!!] |

Back in the Spring of 1979 I was a 21 year old first time mother. Both my husband and I were out of work and living in a home we couldn't afford. Barely able to buy diapers and formula, we would have starved if it hadn't been for our best friend at the time, Donna, who fed us 5 days a week. Times were bleak and scary and our future seemed uncertain.
As I sat rocking my new daughter, I watched the Jerry Lewis telethon and felt my heart ache for all the sick people as Jerry pled for donations. Looking at that tv screen I was suddenly overwhelmed with gratitude that I had a healthy and beautiful new baby in my arms.
And so I took out my checkbook and sent in a $50 donation. Even as I did it, I thought to myself - why am I doing this? We certainly couldn't afford it and in 1979 that $50 was two-thirds of a week's pay in my old job.
Now, thirty years later, I don't remember where it came from, only that it did - but not long after I sent in that $50 we received a check for $600. A true gift from the Universe, a windfall that saved us. Whether it was an unexpected rebate or what (I only remember that it came as a surprise) - what sticks with me to this day - what I will never forget - is that whatever you give out, you get back tenfold.
And so for those of you facing challenging economic times, try to appreciate the goodness in your life. Open your heart and give whatever you can - your time, your money, your kindness, your love. Every little bit helps and based on my own experience, what you give out will come back to you bigger and grander than you can possibly imagine.
==============================
And finally, this quote from Buddha -
"The thought manifests as the word. The word manifests as the deed. The deed develops into habit. And the habit hardens into character. So watch the thought and its ways with care. And let it spring from love, born out of concern for all beings."
Happy Valentine's Day!
Sincerely,
Leslie Spoor
