New phone numbers for the Fair office!
The move of the main offices of the Waterford Foundation to the Old School classroom building in July took the Foundation's phone number with it--and the Fair staff have new numbers. The primary number for the Fair offices, still at the Corner Store in the village center, is 540-882-3129. This is Fair Chair Fran Holmbraker's line; if you want to reach Fair Assistant Mary Kenesson directly, dial 540-882-3659. Dialing 540-882-3018 will get you the Old School offices of the Foundation, where staff are happy to answer general questions about the Fair (including taking ticket orders).

Advance Fair tickets now available
Tickets for the 69th Annual Waterford Homes Tour & Crafts exhibit went on sale on August 13. You may purchase them online, by phone, at our ticket outlets in the Washington metro area, and at both Foundation offices in Waterford.
An advance ticket for a day at the Fair is $15 (a savings of $2 over the price at the gate). And because you can't really do the Fair justice in a single day, we offer 2-day (at $26) and 3-day (at $39) tickets at discount prices too.
Group tickets also are available at $12 each (with a 20-ticket minimum); contact the Fair office to make arrangements for the group rate.
Outlets also are listed on the Fair brochure; we'll be happy to mail one to you (phone or email us), or you can download a copy from our website.
Waterford Foundation members will receive their complimentary Fair tickets next month. If you're not a member already, won't you join them? Individual memberships are $50 (one free Fair ticket) and family memberships are $100 (three tickets).

Photography exhibit moves
to village center
This year the Waterford Fair's Photography Exhibit moves to center stage, with a location on the second floor of the Corner Store on Main Street. The move from the Old School to the center of the village places this outstanding exhibit of regional photography next to the fine art exhibits in the Red Barn on Second Street.
The prospectuses and applications for the photo and art exhibits will be mailed shortly. If you are interested in submitting your work to either the art exhibits or photography exhibit, go to our website to find out more. (If you have exhibited previously, you should receive applications in the mail.)

12 Homes on Tour during the Fair
 |
The Joseph Janney House
|
In Waterford, residents live modern lives in old houses. Many residents live with hand-dug wells, low ceilings, and no air conditioning. Homes and buildings dating from the 18th century and later have been lovinglyl restored and renovated for 21st-century living.
Twelve Waterford homeowners have graciously offered to open their homes this year for tours during the Fair, and volunteers have set the schedule of open homes day by day.

Wine tastings return
The wine tasting tent so popular at last year's Fair is back--with eight local wineries offering tastings (a $12 winery tent ticket gets you a sample of each of these wineries' vintages and a commemorative wine glass), plus wine by the glass and bottle. The wineries participating this year are:

Fair staff and volunteers are now scheduling performers to fill the crisp Autumn air with traditional music during the Fair. Patent Pending, Tara Linhardt & Friends, Danny Knicely, the Loudoun Chorale, and our favorite organ grinder will be on hand.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of
Tuscarora Mill, Magnolias, South Street Under, and Fireworks Restaurants, The Seldom Scene returns to the Fair for a Sunday performance at the Old School Stage.
The Independent Loudoun Virginia Rangers renactors will return on horseback for this second year of the American Civil War Sesquicentennial. Other entertainment will be provided by the Celtic School of Dance, and the Waterford Magician.
