A detour
Hikers on the Phillips Farm will have noticed that the second bridge on the trail straddles a ditch that has been getting ever wider due to erosion. Now the bridge footings have begun to appear, and the bridge now is closed off until repairs can be made. Hikers will see signs for a detour to a temporary crossing further up the way. We'll keep you informed as work proceeds. | Water etches out an ever-wider channel under this Phillips Farm bridge, now closed. |

An Anniversary
Today is the fifth anniversary of the fire that damaged our beloved Old School and destroyed the auditorium. None of us who stood in the yard of the Old School on that cold January day in 2007 will ever forget the sight of that devastating fire. It was a tragic event for the community and for the Foundation.
Immediately President Jim Behan and the other directors of the Foundation vowed to rebuild the Old School and the auditorium in a way that was respectful of its history and its place in the community. They had a vision, a vision of the Old School restored to its former glory and of an auditorium that would once again serve as a social center and a venue for educational and cultural events.
They knew that realizing this vision would be difficult, but they were not alone. In the five years since the fire, many individuals have worked tirelessly to support this project and hundreds of donors have sent contributions of all sizes. We are grateful to all who have helped in this effort.
Now five years later, the Old School has been restored and our auditorium is under construction.
On the night of our Annual Meeting on April 17, we will officially open the beautiful new auditorium that will serve this community for many years to come. Generations after us, those who attend lectures, concerts, and celebrations in this space, will appreciate our gift to the community. Please come to celebrate this monumental achievement with us.

From fire to...foundation, walls and windows, the Auditorium falls and rises
From fire on a cold January morning five years ago to a mild sunny morning today, from the roar and crash of a burning historic structure to the sounds of hammer guns and mortar scraped from rocks set into a foundation, below we present images below of the focus of five years of Foundation work, restoring and rebuilding the cherished Old School and its auditorium.
