Greetings!
This past month, we saw Pete Seeger sing and play on the Hudson River, filmed Ukalaliens instructional DVDs for Homespun with Happy Traum in Woodstock and played some fine shows in New York, including the very same barn at Camp High Valley in Clinton Corners where Steve learned his first few chords on a guitar as a boy of twelve. You can read more about it on our BLOG ... Click Here |
Homeward bound, we picked up a little U-Haul right from the Portland airport fresh in from New York. Oregonian relatives gathered with us the following morning to help us load the studio and move a hundred miles north to a little house on the west side of Olympia, Washington on Puget Sound. Our "POD" arrived with the contents of our home a couple days later and by the 4th of July everything was unloaded and Steve and I were setting up our new nest.
We like the pace here, the salt air; our neighbors are becoming fast friends. We walk and bike everywhere we need to go and walk through old growth on a trail down to the bay, minutes to downtown on foot.
Special thanks to Bailey, the bold spaniel out for a walk in our new neighborhood who introduced us to his owners by coming right up to Steve wagging his tail to wait for a pat on the head and thereby starting a conversation between strangers that turned into landlords and new friends. You just never know where the next bit of good luck is going to come from!
So now, our community boundary we call "home" has expanded our new location here in Olympia where we can work more in less miles and keep the music train on track! We are still close by and booking frequent gigs in the Portland area on our monthly calendar.
Our music and Ukalaliens Uke & Sing is within easy reach and earshot of Portland friends, family and fans so stay tuned and please stay in touch! The Ukalaliens Uke & Sing is creating a buzz all over and we're bringing it home for a weekly sing in Olympia and monthly at Kennedy School. Be sure to check it out, grab your friends and family and join us whenever you can. We look forward to harmonizing with you soon. - Kate & Steve |
