Irish Friends
Portland's Irish Heroes
If you love Irish music and happened to be around Portland's folk music scene in the '80's, chances are pretty good that you knew the extraordinary musician and neighbor, Micheal O'Domhnaill ( Skara Brae, Bothy Band, Kevin Burke, Relativity, Nightnoise). Micheal lived in Portland back then until his roots called him back to Ireland in the early 90's. Although his passing in 2006 was felt by all who knew him, his music remains his legacy and is commemorated in the new tribute CD, "Keep 'er Lit" www.michealodomhnaill.com.
Speaking of local heroes and national treasures...
Micheal's famous singing sisters, Triona & Maighread are holding a painting in honor of the Bothy Band recently commissioned for first-class stamps in Ireland! |
