Portland, Oregon - November 2008Former owner of musical instrument shop cuts violins into small pieces, removes necks from fine old guitars and glues them to anchovy cans! Sound like fun to you? Go ahead and laugh... or come play these reconstituted instruments while taking in the drawings, prints and photographs by the artist formerly known as "Mr. Artichoke". Do we have your attention now?
After spending twenty-five years of his life as purveyor of musical instruments at the legendary Artichoke Music, Steve Einhorn sold the farm and walked into his studio to spend the next two years between the drawing table and his workbench producing playable musical sculptures, whimsical drawings and photographs.
For the first time ever and anywhere, old friend and wood floor guru, Charlie Becker, will premier the work of Steve Einhorn, artist for "Two Years Running" in the new artist space of CZ Becker Wood Floor Gallery at 15 SE 6th Avenue for November's First Friday Artwalk in lower southeast Portland on November 7th through November 9th. The show will then move to Stage One on Main Street in Enterprise, Oregon in Wallowa County for the following weekend, November 14-16th.
Einhorn's work reflects the last two years of his life and love affair with music, people and things in Portland and home on the range in eastern Oregon.
