katestvfun Greetings!

One good thing leads to another... Every time I sit down to write you, some new fun idea starts cooking and now it's time to fill you in!

Steve & I are having a wonderful season with our work on art, books and music.

We're getting ready to record our new album with Bob Stark over at Kung Fu Bakery in early January for release this Spring!  This recording will be all original and is chock full of new songs.

Tracy Grammer just released "Travis John" on her new EP,  "Book of Sparrows".  This 7-song CD is in constant play in our house.  Truly beautiful.   This past summer, Tracy pledged to sing "Travis John" at every performance until the war is over.  She created a notecard we are all handing out with the song, the story and the music so everybody can play it.  We have been singing "Travis John" in all kinds of settings since July 10, 2003 to end war & promote peace.  We are happy to have Tracy's voice carrying the song.  Thank you, Tracy!

Choreographer, Josie Moseley,  is bringing "Travis John" to the White Bird dance series this winter at Lincoln Hall.  Don't miss this chance to see this incredible dance for peace from January 24-26.  Exquisite, moving, powerful.

This Friday, 12/14, Steve & I will join some of Portland's finest for the 3rd Annual John Prine Singalong at Biddy McGraw's in a benefit for ETHOS.  Dylan Thomas-Vance, Little Sue, Adam & Chris, Alice Stuart and a dozen other folk celebrities will be leading all of us on their renditions of favorite John Prine songs.  Songbooks will be provided.  Everybody sings on everything!  This is going to be a kick in the pants so if you love John Prine as much as we do, get down to Biddy's on Friday to sing your Prine-filled heart out!

Wondering what to do the day after Christmas?  This may easily be the highlight of the season so bring the family!  The Moon & Sixpence British Pub at 2014 NE 42nd Ave will  introduce a new tradition of Dylan Thomas' "A Child's Christmas in Wales" with choice excerpts recited in high style by Portland's own Welshman, Jonathan Nicholas. Jonathan has been reciting this work for almost 20 years and you could swear Dylan Thomas is whispering the whole thing in his ear as he tells the tale of his childhood in early 20th century Wales.  Preceded in song by yours truly, Kate Power & Steve Einhorn, and followed by the great "Johnny Box" Connolly & friends, it all kicks off at 4 o'clock with doors opening at 3PM.  Join in good cheer & the resounding words of Dylan Thomas with your neighbors at the Moon on Boxing Day, Wednesday, 12/26 at 3PM.  Peter Yeates and New Shilling carry on after the festivities. A great tradition in the making!  Come join us!
