Get Your Business Going!

FREE info is all yours this Wednesday, September 28 at 5:30 pm  when IGNITE & FernNet join forces to bring you more of what you need to get your business going.  The More Program, which marries resources with needs, will be discussed by Bonnie Fahoome and there will be a special introduction to INSYGHT.co, an online tool to help you identify your next steps to success.

Starts at 5:30 pm at Go Comedy! on East Nine.  Bring your dreams.

Halloween -- It'll be here before you know it so sign up now to be one of the many merchants who welcome kids and their parents to Downtown Ferndale on Saturday, October 29th.  This is one of the most fun, pure goodwill promotions in the district and everyone loves it.

If you are a Downtown Ferndale business who wants to participate, please send an email to info@downtownferndale.com and we'll get you on the list.  Then, you buy the candy.  It's that simple.

Hope you can join in as we welcome the community to their hometown downtown!

Holiday Plans -- We Have Them!

Attention Downtown Businesses:

Time to Get On Board for the Holidays

Hometown Holidays in Downtown Ferndale is more than a month of holiday-related promotions, organized by  the promotion committee of the Ferndale DDA.  With your participation, this will be the best and brightest season ever. Here are some details -- more to follow as they are finalized.

#1 -- More Holiday Lights.  Volunteers Jacquelyn Cutright & Daniel Behnke of Elegance by Design have developed a lighting plan that includes a border of bright lights around every storefront window.  This lighting team will measure your window  and calculate how many strands of lights would be required. The DDA will sell the lights to merchants at cost and the merchants will own the lights.   Installation assistance, at no cost, is available with advance notice.   Lights must be ordered by October 12.   Nearly two dozen merchants have already signed on.  Please don't hesitate.  We need you!

Merchants are also encouraged to then decorate their window with a tree, any kind of tree -- pink, silver, white, green.  Made of your store's products or traditional.  Need ideas? Call us and we'll help.

#2 -- Fundraising for More Lights in Public Spaces.   The plan is to hang lighted baskets on as many street poles as possible. We also hope to add lights to small trees and enhance the big pine tree on Woodward.  To do this, we have planned several fundraisers.

  • A "Light The Town"  fundraiser will be hosted at Rosie O'Grady's at a date TBD. (Nov. 2 or 3?)
  •  "Light The Town" collection boxes will be delivered to stores wishing to accept donations for the entire season.
  •  Historical/holiday postcard sets are being created to sell by interested merchants as a fundraiser for  Light the Town.
  • Buy a Basket.   Call for pricing. 248-546-1632.

Beyond Lights

Nov. 25 - Black Friday at Night

Nov. 26 - Small Biz Saturday

Dec. 3 & 4 - TBD

Dec. 10 - Holiday Ice Festival  will feature Michigan On Ice plus a new  Holiday Market & Carnival that continues through Dec.11.

Businesses who buy into the light program will receive a discount on their ice sculpture.  Extended billing is also possible.

Dec. 15 - Merry Midnight Madness

Dec. 17 - Shop Til You Drop

Dec. 31 - New Year's Pre-Eve Party.

Downtown Ferndale businesses will soon be receiving emails and a snail mail (in a bright yellow envelope) detailing all the opportunties for making holiday sales happy and bright!  In the meantime, if you have questions please call Chris Hughes, Communications & Marketing Manager at 248-546-1632.
