Attention Downtown Businesses:
Time to Get On Board for the Holidays
Hometown Holidays in Downtown Ferndale is more than a month of holiday-related promotions, organized by the promotion committee of the Ferndale DDA. With your participation, this will be the best and brightest season ever. Here are some details -- more to follow as they are finalized.
#1 -- More Holiday Lights. Volunteers Jacquelyn Cutright & Daniel Behnke of Elegance by Design have developed a lighting plan that includes a border of bright lights around every storefront window. This lighting team will measure your window and calculate how many strands of lights would be required. The DDA will sell the lights to merchants at cost and the merchants will own the lights. Installation assistance, at no cost, is available with advance notice. Lights must be ordered by October 12. Nearly two dozen merchants have already signed on. Please don't hesitate. We need you!
Merchants are also encouraged to then decorate their window with a tree, any kind of tree -- pink, silver, white, green. Made of your store's products or traditional. Need ideas? Call us and we'll help.
#2 -- Fundraising for More Lights in Public Spaces. The plan is to hang lighted baskets on as many street poles as possible. We also hope to add lights to small trees and enhance the big pine tree on Woodward. To do this, we have planned several fundraisers.
- A "Light The Town" fundraiser will be hosted at Rosie O'Grady's at a date TBD. (Nov. 2 or 3?)
- "Light The Town" collection boxes will be delivered to stores wishing to accept donations for the entire season.
- Historical/holiday postcard sets are being created to sell by interested merchants as a fundraiser for Light the Town.
- Buy a Basket. Call for pricing. 248-546-1632.
