The 2nd Annual "Live Green Fair" will take over West Nine in Downtown Ferndale this weekend, July 15-17. With more than 80 vendors, educational speakers, live music and more, the fair is designed to provide green users with green providers and to congregate the vast choices in going green into a consumer-friendly event. The fair will be open from 5-9 pm, Friday; 10 am-9 pm, Saturday; and Noon-5 pm, Sunday.
The Live Green Fair is organized is into different sections to entertain and enlighten those pursuing an eco-friendly lifestyle. The sections include:
- Green Home Show--home needs/energy conservation info.
- Free Veggie Taste Fair--20 vegetarian/vegan options.
- Green Art--environmentally-aware art .
- Holistic Enlightenment--spiritual aspects of green living.
In addition, there will be plentiful options for hands on interaction and opportunities for going green, right then and there at the fair. Among the fun stuff:
Shoe Drop - Bring your used shoes to the Hillers' booth and LGF will send them to Africa.
Cell Phone Drop - Leave old phones at the AT&T booth and they will provide free phone calls home for U.S. Military personnel.
Computer Drop Off - Bring used computers to the Whole Foods booth and LGF will recycle.
Drive a Volt - Test drive the 2011 Motor Trend Car of the YearŽ, the Chevrolet Volt, Sat., Noon to 4 pm. Register by noon at Affirmations, 290 West 9 Mile Rd.
Kids' Alley Stage -- Live music and magic. Kids learn to recycle newspapers into new paper. Author John Perry reads from his book, The Book That Eats People .
Green Your Home -- See the new filmed in Michigan movie, "Green Your Home", showing every hour at AJ's Music Cafe, 240 West 9 Mile Rd.
