Ferndale Pride Weekend - June 3, 4 & 5


The organizers of Ferndale Pride 2011 have done a great job of putting together a series of events for everyone's enjoyment.  Be sure to join the party -- a parade, a rally, a march and much more.  There's plenty to do in association with Ferndale Pride or many other events that are happening this weekend. Stay around and celebrate the diversity in the best setting ever - your hometown Downtown Ferndale.

        

Ferndale Pride 2011 - Schedule of Events

Friday, June 3

    6 pm - Assemble "We Are Family" Parade, in alley behind businesses on north side of W. Nine Mile Rd.

    7 pm - "We Are Family Parade" steps off, heads east on West Nine to Ferndale City Hall.

    7:30 pm - GLBT & Allies Rally at Ferndale City Hall.

    9 pm - "Illuminating Our Diversity" Night March Line Up at Ferndale City Hall.

    9:30 pm - March begins, follows a route throughout Downtown Ferndale.

PLUS 

    5-8:30 pm - Motor City Bears Roast Beef Dinner and Silent Auction at Zion Lutheran Church, benefitting Affirmations & the Ruth Ellis Center.         .

    5-11 pm - Downtown Ferndale businesses open late and aligned with non-profit partners for an evening  of  shopping & information sharing.

    6 pm - 2 am - Alley and patio parties throughout downtown

 

 

 Saturday, June 4

    Noon - 3 pm - 5th Annual Motor City Bears "Bears in Speedos Car Wash" in the parking lot of Level One Bank at Woodward and Saratoga.

 

     1 pm - Assemble participants for the 2nd Annual Southeast Michigan Dyke March, in alley behind businesses on north side of W. Nine Mile Rd.

 

    2 pm - Southeast Michigan Dyke March rolls out, heads west on West Nine Mile Road and ends up at Geary Park on Pinecrest.

    3 pm - Southeast Michigan Dyke March Rally at Geary Park.

    3 pm - Ferndale Public Library will show "Just Because I Am," a film about homophobia & youth.

    9 pm - Southeast Michigan Dyke March after party at Rosie O'Grady's.

    9 pm - 2 am - Alley & Patio Parties at Bars & Restaurants All Around Town.

PLUS

    1:30 - 8:45 - Shuttle service from and back to Rosie O'Grady's, to Detroit's Hart Plaza and Motor City Pride.

 

Sunday, June 5

     6 pm - Midnight - Alley, Patio & Tea Parties, all around town.

Many Downtown Ferndale will be open late tomorrow night and teaming up with local non-profits,  in celebration of Ferndale Pride 2011.  and its festivities. Each non-profit will be sharing information about its mission and helping distribute water and beads to parade marchers and rally participants.
