Greetings!
Energy Trust Better Living Show, March 26-28, 2010, Portland Expo Center
New is nice. In the realm of sustainability re-using gets more play. But, new and sustainable aren't mutually exclusive.

New twists on old ideas are good (flower rentals anyone?). New technologies that help us save energy and water are definitely worth checking out. Sampling new tastes from our celebrated food scene is always a favorite in my book! Oh, and new runway fashions, too.

So read on for lots of new things you can discover this month at the Energy Trust Better Living Show. And, we'd love your help in continuing to build the success of the green community in Portland. Please spread the word about the show!

As Seen On...The Show Floor!

What if we told you that we've seen a product that can save you 10,000 gallons of water a year? Or dimmable (finally) LED lighting products that haven't even hit the stores yet? Have a big event in your near future? Consider renting live flowers in sustainable pots instead of using cut greens that have to be thrown away. Speaking of throwing things away -- if you're in the market for retaining walls you'll have to check out how one company is taking old sidewalks and other concrete materials and creating beautiful backyards!

Browse through the Exhibitor Directory to find other companies and products that you want to visit at the show. Then make ONE trip to the Portland Expo Center to see thousands of products and services to help you live a great life! Now that's efficient! Admission is FREE.
Fine Dining for Free
NW Natural we grew up here

Would you turn down free leg of lamb, dungeness crab or Columbia River salmon? How about pad thai, risotto or sumptuous vegan cupcakes. Of course not! Check out all the dishes you can sample this year at the NW Natural Kitchen Stage and make plans to take in a chef demonstration during your visit. After each presentation you can visit with the chefs, ask questions and sample their food.

Beyond food, Half Hour on Health sponsored by The Portland Clinic returns with some timely health advice. I'm particularly looking forward to the talk on the 10 Best and 10 Worst Foods For Families. This one is sure to surprise you!

Twitter friends...be on the lookout for a special giveaway from NW Natural during the show. Follow Michael's tweets.
New Technologies Front & Center
in the B2B Aisle

This year the Better Living Show features a B2B Aisle with solutions especially geared to all the business owners that visit the show. We've had the good fortune of discovering two cutting-edge technologies that we are using in our show production this year. You'll want to know about them for your business as well!

This QRCode takes you to the Better Living Show website.QR Code:  If you've seen the Better Living Show poster this year, you've seen a QR Code. QR is short for Quick Response. People can scan this code with their cell phones and be taken straight to a website for more details. We will be using the code at the show to allow people to download the seminar list and other info directly to their phone. Using a QR Code cuts down on the amount of literature that is handed out.

Virtual Info Booth:  Got a question while you are at the show? This year we'll send answers straight to your cell phone. Text the word BETTER to 244326 to opt in for this service (you can opt out at any time). Once you're signed up, you can text us questions during your visit. We are standing by with answers!

Visit the B2B section to learn more about these and other green business solutions.

Wondering how the models get their runway look? Sidlab Hair Couture and Rumours Day Spa will style the models on the show floor while you watch. Steal some of their beauty tips and tricks to take home!

Shhhhh. Click here to find out how you can meet and mingle with this year's fashion models at our exclusive After Party.
Celebrating Success
We just learned that our friends at Formos have been busy developing new clean tech software tools for a sustainable economy.  They have just launched new software projects with Green Building Services, PovertyBridge and the Lower Columbia Fish Recovery Board.  What do these projects have in common?  They all use smart software design and process automation to help do things like retrofit buildings, count and protect fish, and assist those living in poverty.  If you have an idea about how to make the world a better place and need a software solution to do it, you should check them out in the new B2B section of the show.
All the best,

Michael O'Loughlin & Stephanie Frisch
