From the President
What's in it for You?
Quite a bit actually...
People in the Chamber of Commerce business occasionally talk about the "good old days" when local businesses would join Chambers as part of their civic duty. They were members because supporting local businesses and local communities was the right thing to do. While I do believe that some civic-minded businesses still exist and support us for those "old" reasons, it's clear to me that for many businesses these days Chamber membership is a transaction. I will pay $300 or $1,000 or $5,000 in membership dues as long as I get that investment plus $1 or more in return.
Now I could argue that any business does indeed get much more back for their investment than what they pay in dues through our programs and advocacy efforts, but I'll save that for another column on another day. Instead I'm happy to share here a few new, and some innovative, ways in which you can easily make back your investment in cold hard cash.
- TryItLocal.com - If you are familiar with social media sites like Groupon and Living Social than you will love this. It's a similar online service that will allow Chamber members to offer limited-time discounts to local consumers (not just members). Savvy consumers, which can include your employees (hello free employee benefit!), save big money by purchasing the discounted coupons which in turn drives foot traffic to our local member businesses. Look for details on this innovative program in the next couple of weeks.
- UPS Shipping - Exclusive NVCC member discounts from UPS will be rolled out in the next couple of weeks as well. The more you ship, the more you save! And there is no minimum purchase to qualify.
- Comcast Business Class - This program allows members the opportunity to save on their Comcast Business Class Internet, Phone, and TV bill simply because of their NVCC membership.
Sign up for Comcast Business Class service with a 12-month contract receive ONE MONTH bill credit (up to $250 value)
Sign up for Comcast Business Class service (minimum Voice and Internet) with a 24-month contract receive TWO MONTHS bill credits (up to $500 value)
Members who sign up for Comcast Business Class service (minimum Voice and Internet) with a 36-month contract receive THREE MONTHS bill credits (up to $750 value)
For more information about the program contact the NVCC Region Chamber dedicated Comcast Business Class Sales Manager, Robert DeMaria at 617-866-8505 or robert_demaria@cable.comcast.com.
- Member-to-Member Discounts - This long-standing program will soon be enhanced by going online, making it easier than ever to access these exclusive discounts. More than 100 local businesses offer discounts to you and your employees. In May we will roll out a program that will allow you and your employees to print your discount coupon right from your computer. For a list of existing discount offers go to www.nvcc.com.
I encourage you take advantage of these existing and upcoming programs. The Chamber continues to look for ways for you and your employees to save money by shopping locally and with other Chamber members. The bottom line is, well, the bottom line - you save money and we all drive business to one another.

The Academy at Foxborough (est. 1995) is a private Christian school committed to academic excellence. We strive to build a strong academic foundation while instilling Christian character in our students, preschool through 7th grade. Our students consistently score 1 -2 years above grade level (as compared with similar aged students) as measured by the Stanford Achievement Test (SAT).
The Academy at Foxborough's vision is to equip students academically to use their gifts and abilities to become experienced and effective servant leaders who will represent Jesus Christ faithfully in the world. We offer a quality educational program that values intellect, academics, personal work ethic, the arts, moral culture, and relationships.
