Greetings!

These last several months have seen a host of changes at Cartridge World San Diego.

We've begun to offer a way you can support our schools with every purchase you make (see next article).  We changed the interior of the store to provide us with more production area and reduce the distance you have to walk to reach the counter.  We offer free sodas or water while you wait.  Perhaps best of all, we've added several new business clients, assuring that CW San Diego will be here to serve you well into the future.
Supporting San Diego schools

Adobe logoStarting this month, we will donate 5% of what you spend in our store each month to the local school of your choice.

When you make your next purchase, be sure and ask to become a registered customer(1). For every purchase you make, 5% of the total will be donated to your designated school at the end of that month. The schools will be free to use these funds in whatever manner they choose.  We'll be tracking donations in the store, so each time you stop in you can see how well your sponsored school is doing.

In addition, schools that buy their cartridges from us will be eligible for a 10% discount.

We encourage all our customers, individual and corporate, to register to donate to our local schools.(2)

  1. Your customer information is stored on our own computer and will never be disclosed or sold to another party.  We need to register you so your school preference can be recorded.
  2. Any school in the county of San Diego is eligible.
Website redesign

CWSD screenshotAnother major change has been a complete redesign of our website.  We've moved to Word Press and updated the look and content, all in an effort to provide more useful information and make navigating the site easier for you.  Please pay us a visit at CWSanDiego and let us know what you think.
Recycling electronic waste

Electronic Disposal Group
San Diego produces an unimaginable volume of electronic waste every day.  As companies upgrade their computer systems, homeowners buy a new TV or printer, more electronic trash is sent to the landfill.  Much of this type of garbage is a potential hazard both to humans and the environment.

So what are you supposed to do when you have electronics you need to dispose of?  Consider calling the Electronic Disposal Group.

Electronic Garbage Is What It Is. Residents and Businesses Use and Have This Material Such As Computers, Monitors, Televisions (aka CRT's), Cables, Wires, Printers, Microwaves, Ect...

So What Should You Do When These Items Break Or Are Obsolete and Unwanted? Help The Environment and Avoid Being Fined.

We are A State Licensed To Dispose/Recycle These Items Properly.

We will Pick-Up From Homes and Businesses
Or You Can Drop Off Your Items With Us.

The Lexmark Prebate Program

Lexmark logoLexmark International introduced the Optera S line of laser cartridges in May of 1997 and offered two alternatives; a $288 cartridge that could be remanufactured or a $258 cartridge that cannot.  The less expensive cartridge comes with a license agreement that prohibits the sale, reuse, refill or remanufacture of those cartridges.  It assures this by including a microchip that acts like a "kill switch", shutting off the printer when the cartridge empties.

Last year Lexmark began offering prebate ink cartridges as well.

Due to the licensing agreement, we are not allowed to remanufacture these cartridges.

We feel this program is harmful because:
  1. It attempts to create a monopoly in the cartridge marketplace.
  2. It reduces or eliminates consumer choice.
  3. It's damaging to the environment.

We encourage you to only buy ink and laser cartridges that allow remanufacturing.
