  • According to Skloot at the same time that "Stores, nightclubs, cafes, and schools had closed, and drug dealers, gangs and violence were on the rise" (68) Turner had more than ten churches.  Do you believe there is a correlation between the amount of violence in a town and the number of churches it has?  Does violence in a community lead its citizens to seek comfort in religion? 
  • When Deborah first visits Turner Station nearly everyone stops to watch her, why do you this happens?  Why did she seem so nervous?

Transportation Costs

As of the next Touchpoint Event (the Work Readiness Workshop and Alumni Event on January 5th) all UCW and Urban Prep students will need to pay a bus fee of $6 to ride the bus to Touchpoint events.  If students have poor attendance at the After School Leadership Institute and the Touchpoint Events they will be charged $10.

Hello AIM High Alum!
My name is Janel and I will be stepping in for Geoffrey as the new AIM High College Liaison! I hope this message finds you all well and that you are surviving final exams. Fortunately, winter break is almost at hand! I've had the chance to meet some of you last year and I'm really excited to be working with all of you. My goal as Liaison is to be a resource for you. So if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to talk about anything, please reach out to me.

Local College Visit - Benedictine University

Benedictine University
Elve Mitchell, Assistant Director of Diversity Recruitment, welcomed us to Benedictine University and gave an overview of the school.

Before heading out on a cmapus tour our students met with an admissions officer from Benedictine University.  They were full of strong questions!
