Welcome to InSynch's November newsletter. Earthbound Organics
Jo Ordonez is the owner of Earthbound Organics, a business that she runs from her home near Llandrindod Wells in Powys. The business manufactures and retails organic skincare products, such as face creams, massage oils, hand creams, mother and baby skin care, tinctures and soaps.

The business was established some ten years and has grown steadily, now with an annual turnover of £58k. Jo's products are sold on-line at www.earthbound. co.uk.

"Earthbound Organics began 10 years ago", explained Jo, " with an idea to make skin care products that really were natural, in fact as edible as possible at a price that everyone could afford. The range was a lot smaller at the beginning, but is has slowly grown according to what people need. First there was the baby's range, because I had small children, arnica and ginger balm for bad back, aches and strains, hand cream, a face cream that kept your skin moisturized all day. I created simple, practical creams that seemed to be missing in the ocean of products on the shelves. I began selling to small local shops and at fairs. The mail order side of the business took off through a recommendation and a small article in the Sunday Times. Now the business deals with mail order and wholesale sales which are generated through the Web site and I no longer attend any trade fairs or events".

Jo contacted Eddy Webb from InSynch Business Services Ltd in June 2006 who undertook an eCommerce review of the business as part of the Opportunity Wales project. Following the review Jo received a personalised report outlining the steps required to market her Web site more effectively on-line. Jo then attended a workshop being run by InSynch and received further one-to-one support with her adviser from InSynch in the form of Implementation Support

"It was mind blowing!", said Jo, "I came home with my brain reeling with the work I needed to do to update and market my Web site more effectively. However, it was the one to one support provided by Eddy, an adviser from InSynch, that made the real difference. Once he carried out a full analysis of the site and optimized the site for the search engines it mage a huge difference to my on-line sales. This encouraged me to attend 3 further IT workshops which covered eMarketing and Maintaining your own Web site which were extremely useful".

Jo has since received further assistance from InSynch in setting up an eNewsletter and further optimisation of the site. By doing so, the mail order sales immediately increased and wholesale enquires have now doubled!

eMarketing Masterclass
Businesses are being invited to attend a dynamic seminar on eMarketing that will take place in the Orangery, Aberystywth on the evening of Tuesday 13th November, starting at 7.30pm. Experts in the field of eMarketing will deliver a Masterclass seminar that will cover the essential elements of marketing a business on-line, in addition to pointing out sources of additional information and support.

The main seminar will be delivered by InSynch Directors Eddy Webb and Anna Prytherch, whilst the Welsh Assembly Government e-Business team will also be present, as will representatives from Finance Wales and NatWest bank. Held in a relaxed atmosphere, with complimentary tapas food, the event will provide an opportunity to meet with other business people and receive information and advice from business and eMarketing experts. The Welsh Assembly Government, through its E- Business Programme currently offers specialist independent support to fully integrate Information Communication Technology applications and products into your company business processes. This impartial, unbiased advice is subsidised by 2/3rds of the consultant's daily fees (costing a business approximately £200/day for an ICT professional).
