Wow - It's August already! I'm just getting ready to head off to the Mendocino Middle Eastern Music & Dance Camp. I wish we had more local people going this time... I hope y'all plan to go next year... it's an incredible experience and you learn SO much from all the LIVE MUSIC. I'm excited about starting fall classes soon and the upcoming REDWOOD COAST BELLY DANCE FESTIVAL. This is the 5th annual festival, and I'm so delighted to have one of my VERY favorite dancers, Dalia Carella from New York, come to join us. This is VERY amazing, and I hope you all take advantage of the amazingly low workshop rates until the end of August. Act now! I'm also looking forward to a dazzling array of offerings from our splendid vendors and lots of great dancing by talented performers from across the region. ORGANIC PLANET FESTIVALSunday, August 30, Eureka, CAYa Habibi Dance Company will perform at noon on the stage right after the lovely Lila Nelson at noon. We'll also have a booth and at some point some fun activities for kids in the Children's Garden. Come enjoy this wonderful local festival at Halverson Park in Eureka raising money for our local charter schools. Visit their site here. BROTHERS OF THE BALADISaturday, October 3 in Arcata, CA Wow! This amazing band has been delighting belly dancers and audience members of all demographics for over 30 years. They're from Portland, and will be in Arcata at the fabulous Arcata Theatre Lounge just in time to be an After Party for our Festival!! Show starts at 9pm and there is food, beverages and plenty of dance music to enjoy. The show is $10 at the door, $8 in advance, or special $7 for Festival-goers (don't wash off that hand stamp!).
