 We're Back!
Welcome to our first issue of eNews 2008. It's been a while since you heard from us, animal workload has been and is in the stratosphere and we never have enough volunteers. But, a new editor has offered her services so eNews is reborn and the proof is in front of your eyes.
To ensure that we keep you informed on matters that interest you we have two requests: If you prefer not to receive our eNews, please use the Unsubscribe feature provided, that will ensure that you are removed from the distribution list. Secondly, please take a minute and let us know what you want to see in eNews. We have many supporters and subjects of interest can vary widely between them. So, please let's hear from you. The email address to write to is enews@animalcareociety.ie
And we will do our best to cover those matters of interest to you.

A Long and Winding Road
Since the 18th of January of this year the ACS, working closely with other rescues and using all our available contacts, was able to arrange new homes and futures for 126 dogs and 48 cats.
In addition, feral cats were neutered, countless vet visits were made and several animal cruelty cases were investigated. We are immensely proud of this achievement and we hope that you are too. This has been made possible by YOUR help and support for which and all the animals are deeply grateful. |
Disposable Dogs?
Look at these two, can you believe that they were about to die? A daughter of one of our fosterers was walking one of her own dogs in the park near her when she came across a person trying to dispose of these two dogs in the local lough. With considerable difficulty she persuaded the person not to kill the dogs but hand them over to her. She took them home and as we say, the rest is history.
With help from the UK Dogs Trust lovely homes were found for them. They were lucky, a little later and they would have been dead.
As the saying goes: Their Lives...Our Passion. Truer words were never spoken.
We have many animals in need of good homes please contact us today if would like to

Scotland's Draft Cat Welfare Legislation
By clicking above you will be taken to a new consultation paper issued by the Scottish Government. It considers draft legislation on the subject of cat welfare. It is well written and we urge you to have a look at this document.
Further more, if you feel passionate about the subject of cat welfare, and we hope you do, we ask you to drop a line to Minister Mary Coughlan at the department of agriculture, her email is: Minister@agriculture.gov.ie Please urge her to have her officials adopt a similar approach to cat welfare here in Ireland. Those few minutes of your time might in the long run will save a huge amount of unnecessary suffering. |

Muppet Needs Your Help
Hello, I am Muppet. I am known as a sponsor cat. I was very ill when I was found down a small country lane. I managed to survive for a week or so on my own until my luck changed and an ACS volunteer saw me and took me into care.
Unfortunately, I tested positive for Feline Aids (FIV).
Now before you stop reading, please note that you can't get it from me and I am VERY WELL at the moment. I am available for sponsorship and maybe even adoption if you could find a place in your heart or home for me. Please read on if you want to know more about me or my feline friends that are also available for sponsorship or help Muppet by making a donation online to help pay for his vet bills and ongoing care. |
