  • January was a deep freeze for many of us! We had three great gigs in the cold, cold weather in Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota...but I'm happy to say that as you read this the band, my team and I are sailing in the Caribbean on the 2009 Smooth Music Cruise!

I was thrilled to be able to announce in the January newsletter that I have once again been nominated as International Instrumental Artist of the Year.     Nick has again been nominated as International Instrumental Artist of the Year by the Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards and will be performing at the event as well! Nick won this prestigious award on his first nomination in 2007. It would be tremendous if he were to win again, but it will take your votes to make that happen. As usual, the nominees selected in this category are all top players with many fans, so Nick will be honored with your vote!

    Smooth Music Cruise 2009 Sailing Now

    The Cruise left from Miami on January 31! Nick (Jam Session Host), Cruise Host Norman Brown and guests Boney James, Larry Carlton, Heather Headley, Mindi Abair, Acoustic Alchemy, Marion Meadows, Alan Hewitt, Steve Cole, Michael Lington, Althea Rene, Greg Adams, Shilts, Chieli Minucci and some special surprise guests are now in the sunny, warm Caribbean. Hooray!

    "NO LIMITS"moves up to #5 globally

    Nick's current single "No Limits" has moved up to #5 globally on the RadioWave.com Smooth Jazz/Fusion chart, now has close to 500,000 streams!

    This chart measures internet and satellite radio airplay, including Live365, Sirius, XM, AOL, MTV, Rhapsody and more. This chart captures and records more than 4,000,000 titles each week, from more than 4,800 monitored Internet and Satellite broadcasts. It is the world's largest airplay monitoring and information service.

    Nick's recent Youth Clinic and Grand Opening performances at the Burnsville, MN, Performing Arts Center were filmed by Black Music America. Canadian group Four 80 East with special guests Steve Cole and Nate Najar, who opened for Nick, were also filmed. Pete Rhodes of BMA conducted interviews with Nick as well as with Dan Gustafson, the guiding force in bringing jazz to the Burnsville PAC.

    Black Music America Digital Network is a multi-entertainment company that produces audio, video and online urban entertainment and content for programming. The network currently operates two 24 hour cable music and video channels and website at Black Music America.Com. The music service is available to subscribers on Time Warner/ Minneapolis, Comcast/St. Paul and Charter cable systems for Long Beach, Los Angeles and other cities throughout southern California.
