Welcome to Summer!!! July 8 is the street
date for my new CD
"NO LIMITS" on KOCH Records. My first single off the new CD is the title tune and last week it was the most added at SmoothJazz.com with the most increased spins, and was #1 most added on the R&R Indicator Chart. It's off to a great start! Take advantage of the special pre-release pricing on NO LIMITS (see last article). It ends on July 8!
Peace,

"Nick's latest release, No Limits, does not disappoint. With a terrific blend of R&B, blues, instrumentals and vocals, Nick puts his unbridled touch on each and every song. More so than any of his previous recordings, this CD is Nick Colionne - in passion, in emotions, and delivery. If you have ever been to one of his concerts, you feel the same groove throughout this CD. Aptly titled, this album proves that there are no limits to where he can go. With talent like Nick's, the sky's the limit." Read the rest of Bonnie Schendell's review by clicking on the link below.
"Guitarist and vocalist Nick Colionne's new recording is packed with an exciting blend of jazz, funk, R&B and a touch of the blues.... His passionate baritone voice is yet another reason to stay tuned to this amazing asset in his seemingly limitless repertoire. ...But in the long run, it's Nick Colionne's guitar prowess that takes this CD to the next level and makes it highly entertaining, romantic, bluesy and definitely without limits." Some of the participants at the Epiphone
Clinic, Sam Ash Music, Lombard, IL. photo by
Carol Ray June saw Nick doing clinics for
Epiphone Guitars and Sam Ash Music Stores,
one in Burbank, IL and one in Lombard, IL.
Meeting other guitar players and discussing
his guitar, the Broadway Elitist, as well as
passing along some of his playing knowledge
makes these clinics really enjoyable! He
has another clinic coming up in July at the
Sam Ash Buffalo Grove store...one more
opportunity to share some of his favorite
things with clinic attendees.
Nick and the band went to Las Vegas to
perform at the Jazz Series at the Clark
County Amphitheater and although the
daytime heat was something else, by the time
the evening show was ready to start the
temperature had dropped and the huge turn-out
was ready to rock! Nick and the band put on
a great show, as always, and the audience was
terrific. A good time was definitely had
that evening! The next night Nick was back
in Chicago with the band, headlining the
Close Up 2 Jazz Festival's final day.
Thunderstorms early in the evening didn't
dampen the crowd's enthusiasm for their
hometown boy when he took the stage, and it
was a great show and a great time. A really
fun thing in June was Nick's participation in
an on-line chat with
CitySoundsRadio.com. Thanks to Dick
Fairchild, Jean and session host Shermy from
City Sounds Radio as well as the many fans
who logged in, this was a really fun, unique
experience (especially when Nick got the hang
of using the emoticons...he and Jean were
trouble!). While the chat was going on,
selections from Nick's new CD NO LIMITS were
being played on the jazz music channel, with
"Hard Line" being played on the blues
channel. How cool is that? Nick is
definitely looking
forward to doing this again. On the personal side, June was a busy month for Nick. He recorded some material in his studio for good pal Maysa for her upcoming project. He also did a photo shoot with his long-time personal photographer, Phil Onofrio, noted music and art photographer from Chicago (Phil's photo heads up this month's newsletter). It was great to visit with Phil as always, and the out-takes are hilarious! Visit Phil's website, www.philonofrio.com. Nick also got in some fishing with a short trip and as many single days as he could fit into his schedule. He caught one of the largest bass he's ever hooked so it was a good month!
Michele Witten, publisher of SmoothJazzNotes.com, recently did a terrific interview with Nick...and the bonus is the large number of photos she published along with the article. Michele is a very talented photographer with an eye for fun (catch the photo of Nick's shoes!). You'll enjoy everything about this article!
Anne Aufterheide, a long time music industry veteran, is now a writer and reviewer for SmoothViews.com and their July issue features a very personal chat with Nick. Anne and Nick have known each other for several years and their talk reflects their ease with each other as they touch on many things, both intimate and professional. You won't want to miss reading this insightful and often funny and touching interview.
Coming over the July 4th weekend - Baldwin "Smitty" Smith interviews Nick for JazzMonthly.com. There's sure to be a lot of interesting dialog as Nick and Smitty go way back and are "cruise" buddies (Smitty has conducted numerous artist and panel interviews on board the Smooth Jazz Cruise series). Of course, they will have to stop having fun long enough to do the interview - when the two of them get together it's usually a laugh fest!
The inimitable Art Good, creator of a thousand things jazz including JazzTrax.com, Jazz Trax 24 hour internet radio, Big Bear Jazz Festival and the world famous Catalina Island Jazz Festival (not to mention a syndicated radio program with a station list longer than your arm!) will be debuting the CD "NO LIMITS" and featuring Nick through interview and music during the July 5 weekend programming. Visit the JazzTrax website to see how you can listen to this very special program. Nick will be performing at the JazzTrax Catalina Island Jazz Festival Saturday, October 18. Opening for Nick for the third time at the festival will be the lovely Jessy J. Editor's Note: If Art gives out prizes for his best looking show, this one wins hands down!!!!
Haven Entertainment has announced Summer Specials for the 2009 Smooth Music Cruise. Please check their website for details. Nick and host Norman Brown hope to see you on board as they and the stellar line-up of artists put on the greatest shows and provide the best entertainment you're likely to see on land OR on sea!
Special pre-release pricing of $11.99 is available on NO LIMITS through Nick's new webstore....this pricing disappears July 8 when the CD hits the stores, so take advantage of this special offer. You can use your credit card to make a safe and secure purchase!
