  • February saw me doing lots of pre-production and recording, getting my new CD "No Limits" ready to turn over to Koch Records. I'll be finishing up this month. I'm very excited about the music I'm bringing you on this project, including more vocals which you've been asking me for. Two of the new vocals have been written by me and Grammy-winning songwriters Jim Peterik and Paul Richmond...I hope you like them as much as I do! (The songs, not the guys, but I like them, too!).

My one break from recording in February was as a guest artist on Jim Peterik's World Stage show at the McAninch Theatre. You can read all about it in the article below.

I'm really looking forward to getting back to the performance stage, and first up is the great Berks Jazz Festival where I'll be headlining on Thursday, April 3 with the very talented keyboardist Brian Simpson opening. If you're planning on coming to Berks don't miss us.

After a date at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix with my good friend Candy Dulfer on April 12, I'll be heading to the Seabreeze Jazz Festival on April 17 and 18. I'll be hosting the Festival and Jam Session on April 17, and headlining on April 18 and I'm really looking forward to it. Seabreeze is one of the friendliest festivals around, and the talent line-up is always spectacular. I'm honored to be hosting their first-ever Jam Session! This is the 10th Anniversary for the Seabreeze Jazz Festival - congratulations to Mark and Ren Carter!

Then it's off to Cleveland for the Tri-City Jazz Festival where I'll be a guest artist on Jason Miles' Marvin Gaye and Motown show. This should be fun, it's the first time at this festival for me!

I've got lots of new dates on the schedule and as always, I look forward to seeing you all on the road!

    Peace, Nick

    What Nick's Been Up To
    NickandJimPeterik

Nick and rock/song-writing legend Jim Peterik at World Stage. photo Roy Ferrer.

Nick spent the month of February recording, with one notable exception - joining friend and music legend Jim Peterik on Jim's annual show "World Stage". Jim, whose credits include supergroups The Ides of March and Survivor, is also one of rock's most prolific songwriters, with the iconic "Eye of the Tiger" from 'Rocky' prominently among his tunes.

A whole new audience was introduced to Nick, who was the first jazz artist Jim's ever invited to this always sold-out event, and they loved every minute of his performance, giving him the first standing ovation of the evening. Of course, after Jim slung his guitar behind his head and started playing and Nick slung his Epiphone over his head and they went on a note-for-note guitar duel, how could a rock audience help themselves???!!!

Joining in on this incredible concert were too many great artists to mention here, so we'll just say vocalists Joe Lynn Turner from Deep Purple, Jimi Jamison of Survivor, and Don Barnes of 38 Special...you get the idea! What a night. Visit www.jimpeterik.com for more on this talented guy and a review of the show, plus more photos.

The talented keyboardist Brian Simpson will be opening this great show which starts at 7:30 p.m.

Later that evening, Nick will perform in the Berks All Star Jam which will be held in the Ballroom of the Sheraton Reading Hotel. You can get a double dose of Nick on this wonderful night for music!
