Nick's Notes for Kids
February 2008
This Month's Topic: No Limits Well, Happy New Year! I know I am a little late and I won't make any excuses. I will just say I have been Extremely busy the past few months and I apologize to you all. I want to start this year with the title of my upcoming cd,"NO LIMITS", because I want you to not place any limits on what you can do as a musician and a person. I truly hope that you all made a New Year's resolution to practice more. I believe that you should challenge yourselves this year and try to play things that you would not play ordinarily. Try a lot of new things and different genres of music. Don't get stuck just playing one thing all the time. Listen to other types of music and learn about them also. I don't want you to be stereotyped into being just a jazz player or rock player or whatever. Be VERSATILE. I know the saying is you can't be a Jack of all trades because you will be a master of none. That does not hold true in my book. If you take the time to expand your musical vocabulary to include all types of music you can master them. The next thing you know you will be in demand all over the place. So don't make your musical world a small place - make it as vast as you can. You can do this by practicing and challenging yourself to play things other than what you are familiar with. I say these things because I am doing that myself! I am in the studio now recording and I am trying to take my music to some different places so that others who like things other jazz will have something that they like to listen to on this project. Yes, it is a scary thing but I have to challenge myself on a continuous basis and you should, too. I would never ask you to do something that I myself have not tried or would not do musically. So with that I am going to sign off and I hope to hear from you guys soon with some topics you want me to cover this year. Remember "NO LIMITS " WHO LOVES YOU Aw, you know it's me! Peace, Nico P.S.
