Nick had a great year in 2006, and has already received numerous top 10 awards. We'll outline some of them in this issue. Nick would like to thank everyone at radio, his record label Narada Jazz/Blue Note, and especially all his fans for helping make 2006 a banner year for him. Nick's new single, "If You Ask Me" is off to a great start so now that 2007 is here it's likely you'll be hearing it soon. Nick is a longtime endorsee of Epiphone Guitars and plays several models - whenever you see an official photo of Nick, whether it's a publicity photo or a CD cover, you'll see an Epiphone with him. Thanks to the generosity of Epiphone and Nick's record label, Narada Jazz/Blue Note, an Epiphone guitar will be given away on board the Brian Culbertson All Star Smooth Jazz Cruise during one of the evening jam sessions, of which Nick is the official host. The lucky winner will have their guitar autographed on stage by Nick...just another reason to be on board this fantastic cruise!
Nick was recently inducted into the Phoenix Chapter of 100 Black Men of America Inc. by Chapter Membership Chairman and Board Member Hassan Abdul-Kareem. Nick's membership was sponsored by saxman and friend Marion Meadows. The photo shows him receiving his 100 pin from Hassan after Nick's performance at the Celebrity Theater in December in Phoenix. The 100, as the organization is referred to, has over 10,000 members and over 100 chapters. Their membership is composed of a myriad of professions, including corporate executives, physicians, attorneys, entrepreneurs, entertainers, elected officials, professional athletes, educators, and men from numerous other professions. The 100 Black Men of America, Inc. is committed to the intellectual development of youth and the economic empowerment of the African-American community based upon the following precepts: respect for family, spirituality, justice and integrity. Nick is honored to be a part of this important and positive organization.
