Kickin' With Nick - The Nick Colionne Newsletter | ![]() |

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
As we head into the fall, Nick would like to thank everyone for their incredible support during 2006. He's looking forward to the remainder of the year as well as 2007 which is already shaping up to be another terrific year! Nick's Newsletter for Kids is proving to be a huge hit, and a lot of adults have signed up for it as well. If you'd like to sign up a child you know (or yourself) send an email to jazz@nickcolionne.com. On a personal note: Nick will soon be heading into preparations for the Christmas season at St. Laurence K-8 School in Elgin, IL. The school has a tradition of the upper grades going carolling to senior citizen centers and nursing homes in their community, and Nick as their music director will be spending time over several weeks in October and November rehearsing the kids, and then will visit every unit with them as they sing their way through Elgin. It's a great tradition that Nick and the kids wouldn't miss doing for anything. This newsletter is produced by On The Edge Productions. We welcome your comments and suggestions. For Booking and other information, see contact information at the end of the newsletter.
![]() Nick has often been referred to as the Best Dressed Man in Smooth Jazz, both on and off the stage...and now he has an official endorsement with Stacy Adams, the world-reknowned men's clothier. The company will be providing selected items from their line to Nick, including suits, shoes, hats and accessories. Nick, who has long worn Stacy Adams clothing and shoes, is delighted to represent this stylish clothier. He's already received several killer outfits which he'll be wearing in the coming months. Stacy Adams and Nick Colionne are definitely "On The Scene"!!! . ![]()
![]() While in California for his performance at the Olde Pasadena Jazz Festival, Nick had the opportunity to do a photo shoot with noted artist Bettie Grace Miner. If the Jazz world has an official artist it's Bettie, whose portraits of noted performers can be found on CD covers, posters, and fine art pieces. Bettie's unique technique, combining fine art photography with painting, has produced a portrait of Nick that is absolutely incredible. She tells us that when she was invited to speak at a recent art seminar about her work, she showed the finished portrait and when it flashed on the screen, there were audible gasps at its power and vibrancy. Nick thanks Bettie for this incredible piece of art!!! ![]()
Nick's first single from his Narada Jazz release "Keepin' It Cool", "Always Thinking of You" has spent a remarkable 19 weeks in the top 10, and has been on the charts for 35 weeks and counting. Look for his next single, "If You Ask Me", to reach your radio some time in November. Co-written by saxman Steve Cole and fellow guitarist Peter White, it's a funky, upbeat tune you're sure to love. ![]()
![]() Nick recently hosted an All Star Jam, reminiscent of his jam sessions on the 2005 All Star Smooth Jazz Cruise, at Chicago's House of Blues. Guest artists Marion Meadows, Craig Chaquico, Eric Darius and Alan Hewitt joined Nick in an incredible night of music and energy. Alvin Fisher, a member of the 2005 Passenger All Star Band, flew in from Washington, DC with his wife Cheryl to be part of the jam, and Chicago bassist Mike Manson (who has a new CD out on 215 Music entitled "Just Feelin' It") added to the talent pool. The 2007 All Star Smooth Jazz Cruise, hosted by Brian Culbertson, will once again feature Nick on the main stage and as jam session host. It's going to be a blast!!! ![]()

![]() photo courtesy Reflections by Carey, www.reflectionsbycarey.com This striking photo was taken at the River Raisin Jazz Festival held in August in Monroe, MI. After headlining in his own show, Nick joined Alexander Zonjic, the artistic director of the festival, in an incredible jam at the close of the final evening. Alexander brings jazz flute to a new level with his amazing command of the instrument and his performance flair - it's easy to see why Nick and Alexander created an electricity that had the audience spellbound. Alexander is a man for all seasons - as a jazz and classical artist he has won numerous "Best" awards in his native Canada as well as in Detroit, MI where he is the morning host at WVMV-FM Smooth Jazz V98.7, and he will be the host of the 3rd Annual Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards to be held on April 27, 2007. The event is presented by the Wave 94.7 FM Toronto/Hamilton and Smoothjazznow.com, and is broadcasted via radio and television from Hammerson Hall, Living Arts Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Nick, as mentioned in an earlier newsletter, has been nominated as International Artist of the Year, and will be a "Special Guest" at the ceremonies, performing "live" with Alexander's band. Online voting for the awards begins in January 2007 and the full list of nominees and categories will be posted on the Smoothjazznow.com website prior to the opening of voting. ![]()
