Music Choice is available on almost everyone's cable TV selection, and is watched by over 17 million viewers each month....and we're pleased to announce that Nick is top 10 on the Smooth Jazz Channel! If your cable TV provider doesn't give you Music Choice, ask them for it. In addition to Smooth Jazz there are over 50 channels including categories in the following: URBAN ROCK POP DANCE COUNTRY JAZZ AND BLUES CLASSICAL VOCAL AND THEATRICAL RELIGIOUS INSTRUMENTALS VARIETY INTERNATIONAL
SIRIUS's channel 71, Jazz Cafe, features Nick in its top 10, and all your favorite artists can be heard on Jazz Cafe as well. SIRIUS' commercial-free music covers nearly every genre - from heavy metal and hip-hop to country, dance, jazz, Latin, classical and beyond, including a dedicated ElvisŪ channel! In addition to music, there are over 60 channels of sports, news, talk, entertainment, traffic, weather and data offered by SIRIUS including Howard Stern, CNBC, CNN, Martha Stewart, ABC News, BBC World Service, E! Entertainment, Maxim, NPR, PRI and Radio Disney. SIRIUS carries shows focused on comedy, public affairs, the arts, the trucking life and the full political spectrum from liberal "left" to conservative "right." Around-the-clock traffic and weather reports are provided for the top 20 US traffic markets. SIRIUS's sports radio programming includes broadcasting play-by-play action of more than 350 pro and college teams.
Internet radio is alive and well, and LIVE 365.com provides 17 different contemporary "smooth" jazz stations playing our favorite artist (Nick of course!). Each station has a slightly different take on programming, so there's great variety on the list and many happy surfing hours can be spent checking out the channels and deciding on your favorites!
Live in an area without a 24 hour jazz station? Don't despair...there are options available via local specialty programming in many cities! For example, jazz fans living in Southern Illinois can tune in to After Hours, part of the Smooth Jazz Radio Network and hosted by Kerri Donovan. After Hours features smooth, fusion and crossover jazz from the 70's to today. After Hours can be heard on WTND 106.3 FM Macomb, IL, WQNA 88.3 FM Springfield, IL and at SmoothJazzExcursion.com from 9 pm to midnight Central time. We're proud to report that Nick is in the top 10 on Kerri's program list. click here to go to Kerri's website Another great show we know of is hosted by Scott Stevens on WAPL 105.7, Appleton, WI. Scott hosts the only jazz show serving NE Wisconsin with his Sunday Morning Jazz show which features live interviews as well. click here to see Scott's programming There are many more shows like Kerri's and Scott's out there - sometimes on rock stations, sometimes on urban, sometimes on talk radio! Jabari Warfield's excellent Sunday a.m. show ""Majic Jazz" on Majic 95.5 Soft Rock in Austin, TX is another great example, as are David Munoz's Saturday evening and Sunday morning shows on KQXT 101.9 Soft Rock in San Antonio, Tx. Finding and supporting these shows is a great way to keep the music coming!
Here's a direct quote from the lady with her finger on the pulse of contemporary jazz, taken from a recent R&R editorial column: "Wow, aren't these new, young acts like Darius, Colionne, Corinne Bailey Rae among others Gen-III of awesome SJ artists?" Nick appreciates being singled out by Carol as one of the next generation of gifted artists bringing great music to the fans, and is in complete agreement with Carol about his "little brother" Eric Darius. He looks forward to meeting the lovely Ms. Bailey Rae soon, and with his performance schedule it should be sooner rather than later!
This month's final photo doesn't feature Nick, but rather a young man who is very special to him - Army PFC John Taylor who graduated from boot camp just last week. Nick met John several years ago while vacationing with very good friends (and John's proud grandparents!) Don and Jayno Taylor, whose daughter Amanda was part of Nick's first year of mentoring at St. Laurence K-8 School in Elgin,IL. John's greatest desire at the time was an Epiphone ebony electric guitar which Nick helped him select. From Nick and all of us involved in "Kickin' With Nick", both the newsletter and the fan club, we want John to know how very grateful we are to him, and young men and women like him, who choose to serve our nation. Godspeed, John - our prayers and thanks are with you wherever you go.
