GENTLE GIANT PARTNERS WITH MTW
By: Yuri
Tracy with Gentle Giant box

More Than Words and Gentle Giant are teaming up to form a partnership! This partnership is going to help us "move" our organization forward as we open our second site. Gentle Giant (GG) is a local, national, and international moving company and is known for its fast and efficient moving. GG is going to help advertise MTW by placing labels on boxes that GG customers want to donate to MTW. I would like to give a huge thanks to Gentle Giant, and especially Tom O'Gorman and Will Allen, for donating their time and labor to help us get more books for our 2nd site in Boston!

WASHING, PAINTING, SCRAPING... THANKS TUGG!
By: She'Davia

MTW would like to thank the Technology Underwriting Greater Good (TUGG) volunteers for helping us out at our Boston site on June 9th as part of their Tech Gives Back day! They worked with us to wash the walls, paint walls, scrape old paint off of the doors, and install window locks. They also donated a lot of paint and supplies to us. This helped us get our Boston site ready so that we can serve more youth by helping them reach their goals and hit outcomes. Thanks again to all of the volunteers, and especially Dana Samuels from TUTUGG VolunteersGG, Stephen Lombardi from Newmark Knight Frank, and Sara Hamilton & Lace Anderson Garland from Boston Cares for settingup the event. We really appreciate all of your help and hard work! More Than Words also won $10,000 at the TUGG evening event!! This will be a huge help for our Boston site! Thank you TUGG!

VETERAN SPOTLIGHT: LINDA
By: Linda

My name is LinLindada and I am a veteran of More Than Words. Before MTW, I lived in a group home and was searching for a job so that I could move my life forward. Then I found MTW, which helped me do just that! I learned a lot while working at MTW. The part about MTW I enjoyed the most was the cafe. I learned a lot and had fun at the same time. I just started working at Panera and I really like it so far! I'm also still helping out at MTW by helping to get the Boston site ready. My plan for the future is to save up enough money to go to cosmetology school and then hopefully open up my own school.

DISCOVERING ENTREPRENEURS
By: Chris
Economic Discovery Museum
In Transitions, we went on a site visit to the Economic Discovery Museum at the Federal Reserve Bank, which is a museum for the history of innovators. The site was very professional. Security was one of the top priorities of the visit. The most interesting part of the Economic Discovery Museum was the variety of successful New England entrepreneurs who made a difference in the world. These entrepreneurs came from many different backgrounds. They also showed a slideshow of the history of the Industrial Revolution in America. At the end we were given shredded money in a bag because not all money is certified to be used. We would like to thank Deb Bloomberg for this interesting site visit!

LEARNING TO COEXIST

By: KatyaCoexist

On June 23rd, Jill and I hosted a youth-led screening of the documentary "Coexist." Mishy Lesser was the brains behind the curriculum of the documentary and Adam Mazo was the filmmaker, and they both came to MTW for the event. We had a great audience and had some thoughtful conversation about the Rwandan genocide and how we felt about it. There were quite a few audience members, including some MTW youth, that really got into the documentary and shared how it felt to watch these people talk about the awful things that happened. Mishy and Adam answered some hard questions from both Jill and I as well as the audience. We want to thank Mishy and Adam so much for taking the time to come to the store and be part of this event. We really appreciate it!

What is Transitions at MTW? Also known as the YOU job, Transitions is the time we devote to working on our personal goals surrounding our education, employment, and self-efficacy. To learn more, click here.

PAINTING IN BOSTON

Painting in Boston

We want to give a huge thank you to Home Depot & Sherwin Williams for the enormous amount of support and assistance they provided to the MTW team! Sherwin Williams donated a huge amount of paint and supplies we needed to help get our Boston site ready. Home Depot had 4 great volunteers attend the event: Carol, John, Ralph, and Amanda. They not only helped us paint, but also guided us along by giving us tips. We are so inspired that our Home Depot volunteers helped us so much to  up our Boston site!

MTW DOES YOGA

By: Sara FMTW does Yoga

I went to a yoga event in Concord, MA that was a benefit for MTW with Jennifer Stewart, our Deputy Director. It was sponsored by Erin Jade, an incredible yoga teacher. The event was mind opening and inspiring for both of us. We learned a lot of new yoga moves as part of the complimentary class before presenting MTW. This event really helped More Than Words because after the class, they donated both money and about 20 boxes of books to us! As a Senior Partner at MTW, I would really like to thank them for the class and the donations. We hope to hear from them soon!
Thanks for catching up on More Than Words! Make sure to come by and cool down with an iced latte!
