COLLEGE QUESTIONS ANSWERED
By: Matt M.

On Tuesday July 27th, we went to Brandeis University to talk about different college opportunities and to have our questions answered about campus life & financial aid. We spoke with Erika Smith from the "Transitional Year PrograBrandeis University Site Visitm," which is a 1 year program for students who may have struggled in high school but show potential for college. During our visit, we went over everything from: time management of a mock schedule, to setting goals and exploring the different paths to reach those goals. It was very informative for everybody. MTW would like to thank Erika Smith and everyone at Brandeis University for giving us this opportunity.

VETERAN SPOTLIGHT: GORDON
By: Gordon
Veteran Youth: Gordon
When I was at MTW 2 years ago, I learned how to be more outgoing. Normally, I'm a shy person and MTW got me to step out of my comfort zone and grow. MTW supported me to graduate high school and go to Dean College. Now, I am transferring to Bentley University to major in Accounting, and to hopefully play football. And, I'm back at MTW on staff as the van driver - picking up book donations from all over Boston. In the future I plan to finish college strong & work in a company as an accountant.

CAFE TO CAFE: OUR VISIT AT STARBUCKS
By: Joseph.

On July 15, we visited Starbucks to learn about their expectations for hiring, benefits, and good customer service.  We took back to MTW some great ideas and norms for café attitude: such as Starbucks Site Visitthe importance of getting to know your customers, learning names, what they look for in an employee - enthusiasm and a great smile, as well as the benefits from working in Starbucks. Did you know that Starbucks offers full benefits for working a 20-hour week? The youth learned alot from this site visit.
