Least Terns
On any given day, you're likely to see uniformed men and women of America's armed forces passing through SDIA - homeward bound or headed to their latest deployment.  The Airport Authority is proud to provide them with the nation's largest USO Center, giving them a "home away from home" with televisions, telephones, comfortable chairs, Internet stations and more.  Operated and staffed by USO volunteers, the Niel Ash USO Airport Center is located in front of Terminal 2 East and open from 8 a.m. - 11 p.m., 365 days a year. Least Terns

Six one-of-a-kind works by renowned paper sculptor Robin Olimb are delighting visitors under the Spirit of St. Louis replica at  SDIA's Terminal 2 baggage claim.  Olimb is one of fewer than a dozen professional paper sculptors in the U.S.  Among the delicate sculptures: portrayals of Charles Lindbergh, the Spirit of St. Louis, California least terns (an endangered bird protected by the Airport Authority on airport property) and more.

Your Airport Authority

The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority was established by state law in 2003 to operate SDIA and address the region's long-term air transportation needs. The Airport Authority is governed by a nine-member appointed Board representing all areas of the County. SDIA - funded through user fees and not local taxes - is the nation's busiest single-runway commercial service airport, serving some 17.5 million passengers in 2006.  For more information, visit www.san.org.
