Historical Types
 A sequel of sorts to his Historical Scripts, Historical Types by Stan Knight is a survey of type from Gutenberg's experiments with movable type to the fine press movement of the early twentieth century. Each type surveyed is accompanied by three specially commissioned photos (click here to view a slideshow of types) which show the typeface in a size, detail, and clarity not seen before. As a general survey, it should soon become a favorite text for teachers and students of type design, as well as anyone interested in the history of the book. We are really excited about this one!  Our Special Catalogue 19 is now available to view online. This one is all about type specimens: it includes both specimens and histories of various type foundries. Some of the books in this catalogue are Ludlow Typefaces, The Entire Lord's Prayer on a Single Type, the 1923 American Type Foundry Specimen Book and Catalogue, A Specimen of Type Cut and Cast by Dard Hunter Jr., Spécimen de la Fonderie Typographique van Loey-Nouri, and Prang's Standard Alphabets.

Lolpcon 2012
 We'll be exhibiting at the book fair at the second annual Ladies of Letterpress conference. It's happening August 2nd through 5th in Asheville, North Carolina, and registration is still open. The conference will include panel discussions, print shop tours, plenty of print talk, a printers' dance party, and more! We hope to see you there.
