Digital History: Stories from Maine Memory Network
Historic Photograph: Salvage Shop, Portland, 1926
Mainers often use the days following the holidays to clean out. Today, many of us donate clothing and other goods to Goodwill, churches, and other community organizations. In 1926, the Junior League operated a thrift store in Portland called The Salvage Shop. Use the "Zoom" tool when you open the item in Maine Memory to check out what's in the window and other interesting details!
