Maine Memory Network includes an extensive collection of historical letters that explore a wide variety of topics and places. The record for each handwritten letter includes a scan of the original presented alongside a line-by-line transcription. The letters in this exhibit, mostly from the 19th century, were written by students who were studying away from home and describe all aspects of school life, including their boarding arrangements, the curriculum, and their teachers and classmates.
