Introducing New Pro8/60
 500T Color Negative
bird
A new 500T  film stock, 5260, has just been released by Kodak and we now are making it in Super8.  Why do we need another 500 ASA film? One issue that has come up with the new line of Vision 2 film is that it has so much latitude that some  of the natural film contrast is lost. The New Vision2 has amazing grain characteristics but many filmmakers like the contrast of earlier stocks.  So the solution is to make a film with the grain structure of Vision 2 while  maintaining the contrast of Vision 1 films.  Having just looked at the  first tests,  we must concur. At Pro8mm , we have  always loved the look of Pro8/79 in Super8 and although we enjoy the new grain structure of newer film, we have  missed the look. Now there is a way to get back the look without using out of date film.  And,  with the added bonus of the new grain structure of Vision 2 , you will love Pro8/60.

New Supply of Pro8/85    bird

Our film manufacturing  department has been very busy over the last few months.  They have come up with a new method for making Pro8/85 which will insure a steady supply of this stock.  The raw materials for this film will now come directly from Kodak and then be finished into Super8 cartridges at Pro8mm.  Pro8/85 has been extremely popular as the best replacement for the look of  Kodachrome 40.   A 100 ASA Daylight balanced film, it is the perfect stock for well lit exteriors when you want that classic super8 look.  Pro8/85  is an E-6 stock, and  can be used when you want to implement the lab techniques of push/pull processing or cross processing the film as negative.  Because Pro8/85 is a reversal film it can be projected, and is an excellent choice for doing  physical editing.  Not only is the look of Pro8/85 important as it renders that iconic throw back  super 8 image, but the flexibility of working in the traditional super8 way remains  a valuable resource for super8 filmmaking.
Bringing Back Some Favoritesreveral film

You talked, we listened, and as a result, we have decided to reintroduce the very popular Super8/63 and Pro8/99. Super8/63 is a super Hi-Contrast film that has an incredible velvety black and white look in Hi Definition.  All black and white looks great in HD.  Several clients are  using this platform, such as Beck, and the TV show Inside the FBI. It has such a great film feeling that we decided to expand on this by offering the unique look of 63.  Just remember when using 63 that it has virtually no latitiude and an ASA of 10.  Pro8/99 is one of the best mixed low light stocks we have ever seen. When we first released this film we had difficulty in getting enough film for our clients. Now that it has been around awhile  it has become more accessable.  If you shoot in available mixed low light, this film is amazing. I just shot some material in an industrial space lit with a mixture of florecent and tungsten light.  In addition there was a big open barn door letting in daylight. From any other stock this would be a colorists' nightmare . With  99 I had plenty of color space to get good skin tones. This is a fantastic film.  Many filmmakers have tried doing low light filming in mixed light for shoots such as  weddings, behind the scenes or concerts. Often time there is enough light for exposure but the color space is so bad that it  is hard to pull out a good look.  Give this film a try.... you will be amazed.

As all the networks and media outlets step up their effort to broadcast in HD, the need for HD material has never been greater!!    We would like to help our clients take advantage of this by giving you an opportunity to rescan to High Definition work that you previously transferred at Pro8mm to Standard Definition at a 35% discount!   Our fabulous Millennium II HD Scanner will improve the resolution and color of your footage in gorgeous 1080.  The scanners' Y Front technology has superior dirt and scratch concealment.   This is something that we did not have the technology for at Pro8mm  even 3 years ago, and dramatically improves the cleanliness of scanned material.  The M2 scanner has virtually no video noise, making the resulting scan completely film natural.  Finally, we can modernize the look of your project by setting up the frame in 16 x 9.  This is possible because the M2 has a zoom framing function that can be applied without loss of resolution.
