Super 8 Format Thrives at Cine Gear Expo |
 |
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to see
us at Cine Gear Expo at the Wadsworth Theatre
and Fairgrounds. For the 3rd year in a row,
Pro8mm was recognized for its contributions
to the industry in various ways at the expo.
Cine Gear News, the official magazine of the
expo featured an article titled SUPER 8 FILM
FORMAT GAINS TRACTION. Referenced in the
article was our work in George Hinkenlooper's
feature film FACTORY GIRL, which shot a
variety of our stocks on a MAX 8 Camera to
depict the world of Andy Warhol and Edie
Sedgwick. Also noted was how the company is
encouraging film schools to teach classes on
super 8 using the Pro8mm basic principals of
shooting on negative film with a MAX 8
camera, scanning on the Y front and editing
in computer. A press release about our new
products and services including scans
directly to hard drive also was featured.

We Love this Stuff: |
 |
In a recent e-mail, we got this from a very
happy client ... "Hello - I just wanted to
let you guys know that I just got back a
couple of reels of film from you of a wedding
I shot recently and the film came out
gorgeous. It was B&W reversal and 64T color.
I was worried about the 64T, because
supposedly my camera's ASA is not set right
to film this stock. For whatever reason it
worked. I have yet to be disappointed in
your film stock and processing and just
wanted to let you know that I will never buy
super8 film from anyone else. Thanks again
and keep up the great work." - Joe H.,

Pro8mm Now Offers Direct to File Digitization and Scanning |
 |
Pro8mm has recently added a hardware based
SDI encoder for direct digitizing of film
scanning to file formats. Film can be
transferred directly from our Y-Front Ursa
Diamond Scanner to Quick Time files. We can
use different Codec's for encoding, ranging
from completely uncompressed 10 Bit for high
end work to highly compressed files such as
Mpeg4 for output to I-Pods or You Tube. For
example, a typical transfer that went to
Mini-Dv would be encoded with the Dv Codec.
Materials can be delivered to the customer on
DVD-R for small files (Under 4.7 Gig) or
Portable Hard drive for larger files.
