New at Pro8mm ... |
 |
In response to our clients persistent
requests to have their images go directly to
their computer hard drives, Pro8mm has added
a hardware encoder to our transfer services.
Our new encoder can produce true 10 Bit
uncompressed quick time files, along with
medium compression such as DV or highly
compressed forms such as Mpeg4. The output
will be available on CD for small files,
DVD-R and DVD+R dual density for medium size
files, and a docking station for removable
hard drives.

John From Cincinnati, David Milch’s next
project, post-Deadwood, is described as "surf
noir" and was written by Milch with the
collaboration of author Kem Nunn. In an
article from Variety.com, Milch describes
John from Cincinnati as “about surfing and
the tragic, incoherent world at the border of
Mexico and the United States ... It’s where the
water’s polluted, and nobody has documents.

WE LOVE THIS STUFF: |
 |
In an e-mail to one of our project
coordinators, Nik Venet writes, “The super 8
you just processed and telecined is for two
music videos that will have play on French
MTV, and there is some stuff that we are
incorporating into a short we shot on 35mm.
I also made a super 16 music video for a
French Band called Pleymo that you did the
bonus material for. You can see it on my
website. It was nominated for Best Video at
Victories de las Musique. It’s the equivalent
of a Grammy inFrance. It’s a pretty big deal.
Check it out.

Factory Girl |
|
Excerpt from Factory Girl Article: The
film "Factory Girl" was released on limited
screens in late December. It opened the Santa
Barbara Film
Festival on January 27th, which was the home
town of main character Edie Sedgwick, and
went into wide release on February 3. While
Pro8mm has had a hand in dozens of theatrical
releases, this is by far the most extensive
amount of Pro8mm footage ever incorporated
into a major motion picture.
