Hope For the Children of Haiti

HFC Update

January 12, 2012

A Prayer of Remembrance
It's been two years since a massive earthquake caused a huge loss of life and destruction in Haiti. As time goes on, we can move on and yet the reminders are still everywhere in Haiti. This picture taken by the team that just went down this past December shows the Presidential Palace, still in ruins.
Other buildings that have yet to be repaired have just become a part of the landscape and tents have become a permanent residence for many.
And yet it is not for these things that I call for you to remember the people in Haiti in prayer even though these are all very significant things. There are plenty of Americans who have nice places to live and yet lack faith and joy.

We continue to minister to physical needs and yet I know that is not where hope lies. Today I have chosen Paul's prayer in Ephesians 1 to pray for the people of Haiti:

"For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him ahead over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all."

A Time of Recognition and Giving
A team of 7 men and women from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danbury, CT just returned from a short-term missions trip to Haiti. One of the things that they were able to do while there was to assist in a recognition of the teachers and staff at the orphanage and school.

The HFC children participated in making bowls for each staff member and it was presented along with a monetary gift. We thank everyone for their generosity in making it possible for us to give this love gift to our staff who we greatly appreciate and who are responsible for keeping the ministry going day after day.

Thank you!

Prayer Requests

Praise be to God for the love and commitment that He has raised up in so many who have supported HFC!

Thanks for the evidence of Christ in the lives of the HFC children and adults.

That God will provide for the ministry's need for more physical space in Haiti to support our ministry growth.

For wisdom in moving forward with sustainable programs that will not only provide for a need but also provide for Haiti's future.

To allow our ministry to strengthen families in Haiti and to become family to those who have no family.

That the love of Christ would be evident to the students of the Marion Austin Christian School.

Prayer for the current leadership in Haiti.

That God would renew His call on each of us and strengthen us to do His work, wherever He calls.

For all who continue to serve faithfully in Haiti.

That God would protect and strengthen Dr. Bernard and Claudette, our Director, Jean Alexandre and his family and intern Katelyn Miller.
