WESTON, MA (March 23, 2011) - The Choral Majority gospel choir and band will perform Saturday, April 2nd at 7:00pm at Westgate Church, 100 Winter Street in Weston. The Merrimack Valley-based group, which has members from greater Boston to southern New Hampshire, brings their unique blend of superior musicianship and positive energy to the area in support of Hope for the Children of Haiti orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
"It was our goal to mark the anniversary of the January 2010 earthquake with another show of love and support, but we didn't want to fight winter weather," explains Eric W. Lindahl, director of the group. "Now we're praying for the people of Japan, New Zealand and other countries rocked by natural disaster, but remain committed to do our small part for the large number of orphaned children in Haiti." Lindahl currently helps lead the music ministry at Westgate Church, which "...has a strong history of supporting missionaries and ministries all over the world who live to love and serve people in need. It's a great church offering a great night of music and fellowship, and we wanted to invite the community to come and share it with us while supporting an important cause."
The event is co-sponsored by Blue Window Arts Group, which includes The Choral Majority gospel choir, full band and horn section, and their featured artists, vocalist Gail Dorey of Watertown, acclaimed jazz talent Lance Bryant of Andover, and Lindahl's wife, Robin V. Allison, who's sung on theatre stages across New England and the country. The evening will be opened by the excellent musicians of Westgate, and representatives from HFC will share photos and stories of the great work being done at the orphanage.
Tara Kasey, Ministry and Development Director at HFC expresses her gratitude, "The children at Hope for the Children of Haiti have been blessed over the years but the support of those who have 'adopted' our ministry and have become like family. This is reflected as one of the HFC children shared, 'We would just like to tell you day by day that things may get bad but don't get discouraged. The work is for the Lord. We love you and know you love us.' We appreciate all the work that has been put into this concert and look forward to seeing you there."
The kid-friendly concert is free, and an offering will be taken to support the orphanage. For directions and more information, call 781-237-2633 or go to www.westgate-church.org.
