Hope For the Children of Haiti HFC Update
June 18, 2010
It is a time of cooperation! It is great to see the level of cooperation going on right now in Haiti among different non-profits and ministries and the opportunities that are growing from people working together.

The women at Tufts & Children's Hospital Boston have been collecting sanitary napkins for the girls at the orphanage through One for You, One for Her. The Brent Gambrell Ministries have been sending teams to help work at the orphanage and school. And The Global Therapy Group started by sending teams through HFC to provide physical therapy to earthquake victims and they are now on their way to become their own non-profit and are training Haitians on the ground.

We are excited as HFC is active in the community, creating opportunities for training for our children, demonstrating a Biblical example of ministering to those in need, and working with other organizations to find the best ways to bring hope and the love of Christ to Haiti.

Please continue to pray for the people in Haiti as many are suffering emotionally from the earthquake and the present situation. Also, please pray for the preparation of the New Jerusalem Baptist Team and the Grace Chapel team who will be going in July and will be offering counseling training.

Update 6/18/2010
Several of the children have written their thoughts following the earthquake, we will be sharing them with you periodically through our email updates.

EmmanuelBefore I tell you what I felt after the earthquake, that's amazing grace of God. He saves me about all, it's for this reason I'm here. So I'll never forget Jan 12, 2010.

Habitually I always do my homework after school, before a play basket or soccer with the boys; this day (Jan 12, 2010) I had many Math's homework, I wouldn't want to do it then, it wasn't difficult. I just give up, and I played with Deb, I laught until one cries so much. After I went; played soccer with the guys upstairs. I just stay next to the wall some few minutes I felt the wall move, I get out from the wall, it came more violent, I couldn't move. I kept fast a stake when I saw the downtown many house broke. I said in my heart. God save me. I tried habituated with this citation, the house was like running with me.

After it was over I ran downstairs; I saw Jefthe and he cried and said "God had many guys upstairs saved then!" We said to him "Everybody is ok, and we chose to go to the campus. I wasn't very worried because the last geology subject we talked about, but I was a little afraid because it is the first time I saw that in my life. So let me tell you what happened after 2 weeks. Maybe Jan 25, 2010 I tried to draw, I couldn't not because it was difficult just I think about all the things (lifeless, injured, my family, etc) not only me; I think have many guys who are sick because each noise they fear or they run but I'm different then that it just changed my life. I would like to say you I need your help. Pray for me I love you so much. Bye, bye.

Prayer Requests

·  Praise the Lord for being our Fortress, Stronghold and Deliverer and for His protection of all our children.

·  That from this tragedy God would provide new opportunities to rebuild Haiti for His glory.

·  That Haitians would unite in peace and solidarity of purpose to rebuild Haiti.

·  That gangs would lay down their arms for tools to join the rebuilding.

·   There would be a spiritual awakening in Haiti and among those who are moved to help.

·   That God would protect and strengthen all the aid workers faced with so much tragedy (specifically Keziah Furth, a former HFC Intern and nurse).

·   That God would quickly unite the adoptive children of HFC and New Life Link (NLL) with their waiting families.

·   That the leadership of HFC would be united as they undergo a discernment process regarding our role in rebuilding Haiti and the future of our non-adoptive children.

·   That the Lord would continue to protect our children and secure the buildings from further damage.

·   That Dr. Bernard and Claudette would be strengthened and renewed that they would not grow weary as they deal with this tragedy on the ground.

·   That God would renew His call on each of us and strengthen us to do His work, wherever He calls.
